What is the payment SANFL clubs get for:

Player Drafted (Full List) > x$ on signing, x$ after game 1, x$ after....... (Total $)
Rookie Player ($ on being Drafted)

Rookie Player Elevation $

Does anyone have the breakdown and has this payment been increased or linked to CPI?

I know a few SANFL clubs rely on the draft to supplement income.

Apparently Matthew Wright has been told he has to train full time like the listed players and he will be on 65k and temporarily forget about his plumbing career

I believe the system has changed of late. For a senior list player it used to be staggered up to a maximum of $55,000. Now I understand the club gets $25,000 when the player is drafted and a further $20,000 if/when the player reaches 10 games and has been listed for 2 years.
A rookie attracts a fee of $5000.

$5,000 what a farce. Most end up playing VFL football.

I doubt whether Matthew would be on $65k pa as a rookie and most rookies do not go on and play AFL footy (VFL yes but not AFL).

Am I to take it that if a Rookie is upgraded, the $5000 sign-on fee is then assumed in a full fee to the relevant club.

Also, if a rookie plays a league game because of a large injury list for a given squad, does this mean the home club gets paid a larger dividend. Its a shame this information isnt published on the AFL site (I stand corrected and apologise if it is).

$5000 seems a slap in the face though doesn't it!

Thats a minimum 35 k VS!!!

Clubs can have there 35k to the rookie listed players (the minimum amount) and anything above that is then added to the salary cap. The initial 35k is not added to the salary cap IIRC.

SO it is possible for a player be on more then 35k, but then the additional money will be added to the teams salary cap

This is what I managed to find on the interweb. Basically for draftees (no rookies, couldn't find this) it's between 25K and 50K to the sanfl club on , but they have to pass 5K up to 10K down to the local club the player was recruited from.

On being drafted the SANFL Club receives $25,000 of which $5,000 goes
back to the Affiliated League/Association. This is normally broken up in
the following manner – a minimum of 40% to the Club, 30% to the
League, eg NEMJFA, and 30% to the Zone, eg Amateur League.
2) On playing his tenth AFL game the SANFL Club receives $15,000 of
which $3,000 goes back to the Affiliated League/Association and is broken
up as above.
3) On his second year on an AFL List and after he has played 10 games, the
SANFL Club receives $10,000 of which $2,000 goes back to the Affiliated
League/Association and is broken up as above.

Yes, you may be right. There's also something about being able to nominate 2 rookies who can play seniors if you don't have 2 veterans outside your primary list. I'm just unsure though as to whether they are technically seen as remaining on the rookie list. If so it's dudding our clubs out of big money. Like we should be surprised.

Cutterman and Nickname, not all rookies can play after rd 11.

Only one player is allowd to be upgraded with no injury/retirement from the rookie list to the senior list. For example, last year Danny Meyer was upgraded for the power.

If he was to get injured the day after being upgraded and missed 8 weeks, another rookie could get upgraded for him. When he was to return, Meyer would be on the senior list, and the rookie that replaced him would then go back to the rookie list

CK why would you pay them anymore ?
If a lad from the SANFL for example gets rookied to the Kangaroos and is on North Ballarats VFL list for 2010 he gets his 35k from the Kangas and plays the season for us for not one more cracker. We (North Ballarat) dont give him one red razoo for playing 20 odd games of VFL. So how do they make more than 35k if they dont get promoted to the senior list ?

Lets say a older player like Wright is curently earning $45000 from his day job and $20,000 from North Adelaide it would not be uncommon for his contract to be increased so that financially he won t be worse off

Gday whatever, i see your point but one example i know of is a mature age player had been training with the Hawks over the last few weeks. He runs his own business at the moment and was told if he was to picked as a mature rookie he gets 35k and that it was his desicion to chase an AFL dream that was the price he had to pay. I have no idea what he makes per year running his own business but im pretty sure its more than 35k. The Hawks never said oh you make 80k at home here's another 45k. He was told he'd be required to do the hard yards for a year or maybe 2 and if promoted to the senior list he'd be well compensated then. As it turned out they picked ex Bulldog Wade Skipper over him. Im not to dissapointed he gets to run around with the mighty back to back Roosters again,Cheers.
