Some rumours from over the Vic Border

1Gold Coast are trying to get Carmichael Hunt to play some SANFL games to help him develop further.

2Marco bello has been offered a playing/assistant coach role in SA.

3Luke Ball has threatened to play VFl/SANFL for a year if drafted by Melbourne.

4 Nathan Thompson being chased by Centrals

Not sure how many would be correct. ;)

by whatever
the Luke Ball one is laughable.

An amount of $450,000 out of pocket for the next twelve months plus automatically expulsion from next years draft. That is my understanding of the rules.

More like he will play and then ask to be traded at the end of the year again.

Nathan Thompson would be a huge coup for Centrals

Wasn't the word a while back that he would only play "a couple of games" in the VFL for the GC next year?

He would play a couple more with them rather than going elsewhere right?

1. No way. SANFL isn't so far ahead of VFL that it would make that much of a difference to a player's development and they'd want him playing under their coach with their players.

2. Wouldn't be a surprise. Very well respected and still in decent nick from what I hear. Wouldn't be any league position but an amateur club or country club (especially one with ties to Centrals) could do worse. Doesn't mean he'd take it though of course.

3. Crazy. Would be banned from the AFL for the following year and who knows what might change in the meantime. Another injury, substandard form and suddenly he's a 27 year old with a lot of question marks over his head instead of being considered a proven 25 year old. Even if money means nothing to him and so taking a 400k pay cut didn't bother him, he could see out his contract and move on.

4. Would be a good pick up if he's right. But he did have a media career going and I'm not sure whether he played last year or not.

Ball would need a clearance from Melbourne to play for a state league club, something that if he refused to play for Melbourne, he'd have no chance of getting. He wouldnt play a game in 2010 if he refused to play for Melbourne, plus get fined, probably de-registered etc.

Just a rumour that one. Noone would be that stupid to try and pull that.
