Norwood and Port in informal talks, in light of Andrew Demetriou's 19 and 20th licence talk, with a view to both playing out of Adelaide Oval - the former to be sponsored by an energy drinks company?

Surely this topic is about 4 and a bit months premature?

would think that if any AFL licenses were going to be handed out to an SA club it would be Central for certain, not that i think it would work would eventually end up like the power.

Surely not !!! We already have 1 of our current 2 clubs struggling to get 20,000 to a game. We do not need a 3rd AFL team in SA

This subject must be market specific just like Today Tonight and just as silly. There was talk recently around Perth that there'd be a third club out of WA if there was a 19th and 20th team.
Going to 18 teams is insane enough. There just isn't the talent to sustain an elite competition with 20 teams.

Melbourne Demons and Norwood Redlegs merging and relocating to S.A would be more likely to be on the cards one might think!

Two terribly run clubs (in the last decade at least) with little $$$ and delusions of grandeur...........perfect match.

Why would the AFL even think about another team from SA? We have no other major centre to base a team in and we're struggling to keep both the current clubs viable. Any third team would be LESS financially viable than the second team we have. 19th and 20th teams will come from Tasmania, Queensland or NSW and might be 20 years away.

Is this the most ridiculous suggestion ever posted on this forum??
Surely the only way to keep this thread going is to turn into a list of the stupid things that have previously been thrown up under the banner of "I heard that....." which actually means I am making up a load of crap
Sorry Norwood, just because you rort the salary cap like an AFL club, doesn't automatically qualify you to play in the AFL

No, that's still 'Cain Ackland is moving to North Adelaide for the love of the jumper'.
Hilariously Norwood playing AFL out of Adelaide Oval would still give Demetriou more pause for thought than Centrals doing the same. It's a funny old world.

Wouldn't think so Centrals financially stable, have on field success and would have a chance of capturing the whole of the northern suburbs as a supporter base. The AFL would never create another Adelaide inner city club in the AFL.
In saying that IMHO there will never be another South Australian based side in the AFL.

And even more hilariously, you actually believe this.

Just merge Centrals and Norwood, put one in the AFL (Central Redlegs) and leave one in the SANFL (Norwood Bulldogs).
8 team SANFL

Why couldnt you merge central and the western buldogs and have them playing from adelaide oval.
Both clubs are becoming sucesfull on and off the field.
The old footscray helped the dogs get started and niether side would have to change their name, they could just be called the bulldogs.
Just a thought.
