Thanks for posting Jab. Some interesting names there.

Great to see Terry get some recognition, my son has been at Flaggy for Auskick the last 2 years and Terry is like the pied piper out there, the kids love him

Congrats to all the winners, well done...

I would have thought that the SANFL coach of the year would be the Premiership coach, but well done to Rubbers nonetheless...

Quote from FHFC President in this weeks email newsletter:
"Terry Taylor is our current Auskick Coaordinator and has been for several years. Prior to that though he has been the father of 4 Flaggies footballers and coached at almost every level inside and outside the Club over an outstanding 20 plus years footy career.

Congratulations Terry...anyone who knows you understands that you truly deserve this recognition. Another Falcon high achiever."

I too rate Terry as one of my favourite people. He's a Fantastic Clubman and bloke

It's voted by the other SANFL coached for the minor season. Trust me the way Rubbers spoke he felt very uneasy in accepting the award.

Fair enough Jabber, on both points...

You forgot to mention the coach of the decade Roy Laird, 6 time premiership coach ;)

All jokes a side and no disrespect to Mark Mickan but the SANFL LEAGUE COACH OF THE YEAR at this level must be the premiership coach. It saves some embarrassing moments when someone like Mark has to accept an award, which he knows his team fell over at the most critical time of the year and didn’t even get to the big dance.

what about the metropolitan coach of the year
Every league club nominated suburban heroes apart from sturt who nominated norman

May be they didnt quite understand the concept

Yeah, bit sad Sturt just nominated their bloke. Good on the 7 clubs who nominated someone from outside their club. Sturt and WWT should be embarassed they used this for a bit of self promotion.

The irony is that Mark is in the minority of SANFL coaches who actually voted for Roy Laird.

In Sturts defence I think they only have three clubs in their metro zone IIRC, Scotch OC, Unley and Mitcham so a lack of coaches to give awards to really. Mind you perhaps the Mitcham coach deserved it given they avoided the drop straight out of Div 3 which is what usually happens to Div 4 sides coming up.

However given the number of clubs I can't for the life of me work out how the Eagles couldn't find a coach in their zone worthy of recognition other than one of their own.

Fair enough as well, of course he wouldn't have voted for himself...

Now knowing the award was voted on by the peers of the coaches and only done for the minor round, I can understand how Rubbers was the winner. Minor Premier is deserving of having their coach awarded, at the end of the day I can see why other coaches voted for him and not Roy Laird as a majority.

I think you'll find Mitcham Hawks are in West Adelaide zone.

You may want to take another look because your mob has done exactly the same thing. So under your thinking maybe they didnt grasp the concept either.

How long has this awards night been going on for? I had a look on here and on the SANFL website for previous results and couldn't find anything.

Musn't be that important either considering it's not on the SANFL website. (Watch it be announced on there tomorrow) ;)
