Missing SANFL Supporters...

Not having a go at anyone or any teams...

Just a question about supporters that you used to see at matches all the time that have disappeared.

I recently found out where a bloke by the name of Ralph (was a regular Centrals supporter) went to...Queensland...poor bastard.

I saw "Car-breaker" Kevin a few seasons back at a Grand Final...he used to go to all the Centrals matches particularly 10 years back...he holds the record for the least amount of time from walking in the gate to getting kicked out by security...about 5 minutes! Now only goes to Grand Finals.

Anyone know what happened to these supporters??

1. I remember this blokes name as Mike. I got a lift home with him from the 1999 Centrals AGM. The car radio was playing "Wild, Wild West" by Escape Club. When the line "heading for the 90s..." came up I started singing and changed the last few words of that line to "Living in Elizabeth West...the wild west!" which he found quite funny. He had a huge beer gut and at one stage used to wear a tartan hat with fake red hair coming out from underneath it at matches.

2. Centrals supporter called Tommy. A regular in the early 2000s. I remember him being called "Tom the Pom".

3. Norwood supporter from the 90's. I remember him primarily from that Elizabeth match in 1996 when Norwood got up by a point. He was a Norwood cheersquad member and he was stirring as many Central supporters as he could after the final siren. Hilarious!

4. This couple who used to go to matches up until the early 2000s. Regulars who used to sit in chairs behind the goals. I used to be a Jehovahs Witness years back and one day I knocked on where they were living at the time (Elizabeth South). Both aged in their 40's, he had white hair, glasses and a goatee beard.

Anyone know???

No. I saw her a couple of months ago at the Adelaide Train Station...

I use to go with my Pa and Uncle. They haven't been to any footy (AFL/SANFL) for 5 years.
Pa is at an age where it is getting too hard and Westies have been less than inspiring in recent years so i couldnt talk my uncle back into coming to local footy. Once people leave, they lose the habit of going and getting them back is very difficult - especially if your team is not doing so well

Check out the article, on the right on Sheet 4 (of 6) of this 1997 edition of the legendary "BM" fanzine.

Big Mike, a big man with a heart of gold, sadly passed.

Yeah, that's him. absolutely top bloke. When did he pass away??

Does anyone know if Bert Holbrook the CDFC equipment steward is still with us?

With #3, i'm pretty sure that the fella was intellectually handicapped. I remember the siren going and he went totally nuts.

And #4 I remembered after I logged off last night that I saw the husband a few months back in the city, IIRC.

I have seen Alex at Sturt + non-sturt games. He always ask me who is out for the bloods then he goes around telling everybody he has done it himself. Which i think is great

Alex is often at Woody Oval when Sturt arent playing or have already played, always stops me to ask who is or isnt playing too!! One game at Woody oval last year he was getting the info from i think Ben Schwarze as he was keeping warm on the exercise bike on the becnh during the magoos.
