I know a Marketing Manager retiring from a SANFL club post isn't normally big news but I think this is considering the stature of the man in our game and what he's done for North (as well as other clubs and charities).

Will be sorely missed, all the best my friend!

how can anyone replace this wonderful humble man......

if anyone is deserving of a statue outside footy park it is Barrie.....

without doubt the best player I have ever seen........

all he ever wanted to do as play footy for North and no one else......

I have never ever seen an opposition champion player stand in the middle of the ground and clap an opposition player during a game......

Jesalenko did it whilst playing for Carlton in the Champion of Champion series in the 70s which North won.....

Barrie was years ahead of his time!

Yes, all the best and well done to a true gentleman.

I was lucky enough to see him play through his career.

A class act on and off the field.

A champion player, but a greater champion as a person.
I am grateful to have been in his company many times, he does everything as he played the game, with dignity and honour.

Never saw him play but met him a couple of times. Most notably in 2003/04 or so at Prospect after the game he was out and about clearing up the bins on the outer. I knew who he was and thought that was fantastic - a true club man helping out wherever needed and getting out amongst the fans. Stopped to chat for a while then went back to his task with a smile on his face. A true champion in every sense of the word. =D>

Always thought he would have made a great Governor.

Champion player and person, best of luck in your retirement Barrie :)
