Which SANFL players have a chance of being rookie drafted?

Postby panthers 2008 » Mon Oct 26, 2009 5:35 pm

Which SANFL players do you think will be drafted?
Maybe there are some smokies who may be drafted?
Despite being 26 years old Michael Coad would have to be a chance to find a home,Scott Dutshcke is another more mature player with a shot.
Of course there are the obvious like trengove but who else?

At only 25, if Jimmy Miekeljohn isn't given another go (by the Power?) then something is seriously wrong.

From Central I can see Brayden O'Hara and Ben Nason as very good chances of being picked up.

Sam Rowe at Norwood could be a chance of finding his way back onto an AFL list again ... I think he'd need to improve his hands a bit (sorry big fella) but he's a fair unit, plays the game hard, isn't slow for his size, and is a pretty dependable kick for goal - Someone could take a punt with a late pick.

Alex Stopp is another who I reckon would have to have some sort of chance, and perhaps Mark Evans also.

Oh yeah, couldn't agree more (just hope it is by the Crows or Power !!)

The guys I mentioned above were more mature age possibilities...

Maybe Scott Dutschke and Lee Spurr would be a chance as well...

Daniel Webb would be a massive chance from West, lack of quality talls in draft too helps his chances.

Heaps of players from Sturt could be chances, or am I reding it wrong from afar? Any word on Jeansch, Wark, Mackdonald, Coad, Sharples?? Sturt fans?? hello??

I too hope Webby gets drafted - he's a fantastic lad who has worked really hard over the past couple of years. Daniel maintains a strong link with those of us at Flagstaff Hill, and we all wish him well

With this draft supposedly being quite thin on talent after pick 30 I can imagine there will be a few more mature 19-25 year old players with a better chance of geeting a shot at AFL level.
There are a few at sturt and north that stand out eg Coad ,Jeansh,Archard,Allan.
It will be interesting too see which of these types of players get a call up on draft day!

Coad because of his age would be the slightest of faint hopes but for blokes like Allan and Archard, they are NO hope !!!!
- Allan and Archard are a mongrel height for the AFL and are not blessed with speed so havent really got anything to excite the recruiters [except they find the footy] which doesnt seem to count

Culley is 18/19. Not a ruckman and at AFL level would play as a third tall defender....wing at a stretch. I think he'd be high 180cms. Good skills, reads the game well and is well built and athletically strong. Some question marks between the ears but has improved. A rookie list chance I would think. Could certainly thrive in an AFL environment.

Another eagles boy that might go, other than Sumner and Allmond, would be Stuart Hill.

I think Dutschkes kicking lets him down too often particularly in front of goal and this may have him overlooked. He does have all the attributes needed though.

Congratulations to all the SA boys who got drafted. From the Eagles perspective its a pity that Sumner is off to Sydney as he will be a very good player and would have loved to have seen him develop in SA with either hte crows or power.

There seemed to be a lot of SA lads who were overlooked that were talked up highly pre-draft. The good news is I'd expect they will get picked in the pre-season draft or in the rookie draft, hence have a very good chance of staying in SA. From memory both the crows and power usually select a good proportion, if not all, there rookies from SA

LOL Sorry bayman, but I just noticed this post looking for who got drafted.

Maybe the Bays should get footballers and not athletes. ;)
