They just spoke to Chad O'Sullivan on Channel 10 News, showed the x-ray of his fractured leg, both bones and 3 breaks all up, not pretty...

Good to hear that the players started their mad monday celebrations with a visit to Sully's hospital bed side. He mentioned that he had surgery last night but was able to watch the delayed broadcast of the game despite being a bit out of it. He also said that it was team-mate Scott Dutschke running through that cleaned him up and that you could hear the 'crack' from ground level.

Mentioned that it will be 6 to 10 months of rehab before he will be back playing so best of luck to Chad...

I hope he does make a full recovery. I hope for his sake it isn't as bad as logan hill from westies, he broke his in rnd 5 2008 and is still experiencing pain when running. Good luck with the recovery Chad. He will probably be a "recruit" in 2011 for the dogs

First of all I hope he recovers fully, however seeing the X-Ray on Ch 9 news - 3 breaks two to the tibia and one to the fibula it is as bad as I've ever seen.

Going to take some serious rehab and post operative care to get him back for 2010.

Good luck to Chad for the recovery, you don't like seeing our competition robbed of its good players.

Such a shame for such a great player to get an awful injury like that. So glad the boys went on to win it for Chad! Wishing him the best for a speedy, full recovery and hope he can take part in 2010 season for the dogs at some part.

Spoke to Trent Goodrem who had visited him earlier today, apparently it is very very very similar to the Nathan Brown (richmond) broken leg, would be very surprised if he was to play a game next season. More importantly the injury will heal and Chad will be alright and won't lose any permanent movement in the leg.

Not sure how similar they are, but Scott Bassett never made it back after a very bad break to the leg - I really hope this isn't the case for Chad, a wonderful footballer who adds plenty to the competition.

Back to Chad, It is a shame to see him go down like that, for my mind he was BOG up to that point. I beleive at the Moment (well prior to breaking his leg) he is the best footballer in ther SANFL

Yeah that's something a few of my mates had a quiet discussion about today. Hopefully if given plenty of time and not rushed back he will see better results than Nathan Brown ever did.

Yeah that's something a few of my mates had a quiet discussion about today. Hopefully if given plenty of time and not rushed back he will see better results than Nathan Brown ever did.

It seems to be one of the toughest injuries to make a full recovery from. As i stated earlier Logan Hill is still some 17-18 months after his break, almost identical to N Browns, struggling to run properly and can't do so without pain.

He will require some luck and plenty of good help around him.

An update on Chad for those interested...

Injury Update - Chad O'Sullivan

Chad has started on the path to recovery from his broken leg sustained in the Grand Final...

After badly breaking his left leg in 3 places late in the first quarter of the Grand Final, Chad had surgery at around 8pm that night to insert a 30cm metal rod and 2 pins to repair the damage followed by 8 days in Ashford Hospital as he began his rehabilitation.

Chad has returned to work today (Monday) in his role as Development Officer at the Club, and has begun a series of exercises including swimming as he aims to re-establish mobility and strength in the injured leg.

There is no date set for his return to the field at this stage, but Chad is able to move around on crutches and has not required a plaster cast and is expecting to be walking without crutches within a fortnight.

Chad thanks everyone who has contacted him with their best wishes since the Grand Final and he now looks forward to getting back on the field in Season 2010.
