I'm definitely disappointed in the result, but to be fair, Centrals were just fantastic today. I really was wondering whether they would be on the ball, but from the first bounce you could see they were completely and totally switched on. On that basis, I'm not going to take anything away from the Bulldogs, as they were on song for the entire four quarters and they positively deserved their comprehensive victory over the Double Blues today.
For Sturt, I thought we showed great endeavour the whole day and I think we had a couple of 10 minute periods where we had total control, but could not apply scoreboard pressure, whereas when the Dogs were on top, they were able to get the goals and thus put distance between themselves and us when it counted. Centrals forwards, particularly in the first half, were excellent, holding marks and kicking goals when it was needed.
So yeah, disappointed without doubt that we lost, but overall pleased we took the extra step finally and made the grannie. Would have loved to have finished 2-0 for the decade, but 1 from 2 ain't a bad return.
Congratulations to the Central District Football Club, I think this was one of their most rewarding victories and as such, all their fans deserve to lap up the glory and rub it in and all that jazz.
Bad luck to Sturt, a gallant effort, good to see the boys didn't just fall over when it was obvious they couldn't win...
