Before this year, last time Geelong won the Grand Final (2007) so did Central.

Is this an OMEN? ;)

I know this is off topic but as a power supporter

2004 - had a son - made grand final

2007 - had a son - made grand final

2009 - had a girl - played like a group of girls

not sure I am game enough to go back for more, I couldn't put up with another year like this year

Sturt broke the first run for a threepeat, but we have one now. Omen out.
2002 took place on October 6th, this one 4th. Omen out.
We had beaten Sturt four times in the 2002 season (a la 1996 with Port). Mixed results this season. Omen out.
No Martin Mattner to run down the grandstand wing and kick one of the best GF goals I've seen. Omen out.
Captain will be playing for Sturt. Omen out.

In fact, the only coincidental factor I can clearly remember between 2002 and 2006 is that on both occasions the opposing Captain missed the GFs, inspiring those that took the field. Nelson must play this weekend, just like Wintle in 2007!

No omens for 2009 - we're in virgin* territory now.

In 2002, I attended a wedding on Grand Final day - which was a Saturday. Sturt won.

In 2009, I have to attend a wedding on the Saturday before Grand final day.

Omen Schmomen.

Ha, really? Sensational! Yeh mate, it'll make an appearance, albeit a brief one. It's either that or wear a Sturt guernsey. I mean, it is going to be cold!

WHAT........I renounce my "Omen Schmomen" comment and predict that an omen will occur! In that case Wegs, I'll definitely wear the scarf to the wedding.

The only omen I care about is the fact that grand final day will be the 10th anniversary of the death of my devout Doggies supporting grandfather.
He will be looking down on us, making sure everything goes to plan.

That's not an omen...just love and blind faith. Good luck though.

This time we have Matthew Jaensch, who plays like Marty Mattner, looks like Marty Mattner (a bit) and definitely has the ability to kick a goal like Marty Mattner did in 02 ;)

I slept through the 2002 GF, due to a big night out on the town...
Are Sturt supporters willing to throw $'s my way, to ensure I get drunk??
