Preliminary Final - Glenelg v Sturt @ AAMI - Sun 27/9

So a repeat of last year, with the Bays and the Double Blues facing off against each other for another shot against the Dogs, this time in the big dance, the Grand Final.

On paper, should be a ripping game and expect it to be a bit closer than last years corresponding contest and will be interesting to see how the Bays respond from yesterday.

Sturt has to learn how to close out games and I guess the questions asked will be does Chambers and Nelson come back in for Sturt, will Hinge replace McConnell for the Bays, questions to be answered towards the end of the week no doubt.

Really not sure who to tip in this one, of course the Bays record over Sturt in recent seasons is pretty hard to go past, but for every loss you are closer to a win.

Might tip Sturt in another real close one, Double Blues by 5 points.

Bays by 15 points. Only because I think they have better rucks. Around the ground pretty even. If Chambers played Bays by 5points.
If Mcconnell played sturt by 15..................(only joking, please don't bookmark this as I don't really believe it) ;)

This ones easy. If Chambers plays, Glenelg wins. If he doesnt, Sturt win.

Sadly, I really can't see us winning this one. Our ability to put together 4 full quarters of intense footy is questionable.

If everything goes right for us (i.e. Herring has his accurate kicking boots on, players arrived pumped up to fever pitch and we get an even break from the men in white) we may be a chance.

There is no logical reason that Sturt will win this game...

The only reasons I can think of for a Sturt win are completely illogical...

i.e. We've had 2 hours more recovery time, We're 'due' for a win against them, We've won more finals than they have in our history, etc.

Sturt to win this and the Grand Final. Glenelg has won a heap of games vs Sturt but is well overdue to drop one. The Glenelg players (and supporters) are shot.

Wow, you sound just how I did after losing last week!

I reckon the winner of this years premiership will be playing in the prelim...

LOL, don't you love it?

I expect the Bays to fight tooth and nail this week against Sturt.

As a proud Bays supporter for nearly 40 years, no, LBT, you certainly don't speak for me (even if you're playing mind games). I'm looking forward to the challenge ahead this Sunday. Can't wait.

=)) What?! You're saying that we haven't been there too recently??

Judging the by intensity and skill level of the 2 games played yesterday - Glenelg, and by plenty I fear.

Sorry LBT I'm with SJABC and Dedja, I bel;ieve we can win this week and I believe we can beat the Dogs the following week. Will be very surprised if our players and coaches don't think that either.

Yes the Dogs upped the ante yesterday in the last quarter but our silly mistakes and deviation from our game plan allowed that. We eliminate those and maintain our workrate for four quarters next game we can beat Sturt and then the Dogs.

I've already covered this in the match review thread, which incidently it seems that your comments were attended to by the moderators.

For someone allegedly who has watched football for many years, your comments suggest one who is bitter that the world hasn't stood still in the so called glory years. I will not try to denigrate your club again because it is not their fault, but you have conclusively proved that you have NFI about the game once things do not go your way.

Enjoy your summer of bitterness ... adios. :-h

Depends on how we come back after yesterday both teams had a good hitout so they will be ready to go.

Dont buy into the theory that they are due to win cause we are more than due to beat the Dogs, dont work like that if we are as good as we are led to believe then you would think we will bounce back. However there is a mental aspect to us now and i would say that is shattered.

Good luck to the Sturt supporters this week

Although all we are doing is playing for a chance to go on and hope Centrals lose the GF cause neither side playing on Sunday can win the GF.

I disagree, If Sturt can get over Glenelg this week I give us a real chance against the Dogs, we seem to play them a bit better than Glenelg.
