SANFL Team Of The Year

As the end of the season draws near, many organisations will release their 2009 SANFL Team Of The Year. I released mine for Sportsbeat last night on 5RPH and thought it might be a good way to kick off other posters nominatiing their T.O.Y also.
While all teams were represented, this was by accident rather than design. No AFL listed players were considered and where at all possible, it was placed in position (Eg. not naming players at strange positions, simply to have them in the team, like Matthew Pavlich at Full Back in an All Australian team)
B: Zorzi (Nwd), Mills (GL), Coad (St)
HB: Thomas (CD), Ferguson (WA), Fisher (GL)
C: O'Hara (CD), Sheedy (St), B. Kane (GL)
HF: Gum (St), Herring (St). Ezard (WA)
F: O'Sullivan (CD), Chambers (St), Archard (NA)
1st ruck: Cranston (GL), Murray (PA), Allan (NA)
Inter: Miekeljohn (PA), McKenzie (WWT), Cockshell (SA)
This team was chosen last Sunday, so did not take into account Magarey Medal performances etc.

Sorry, forgot to write that - Mark Mickan. Thought it was hard to argue with keeping a team undefeated for close to five months at time of writing.

Ben Fisher for mine could be unlucky from westies. very underrated by outsiders. His year has been absolutely sensational

Adam Cockshell? Didnt see alot of south but surely there were better players than him considering there was already a ruckman on the bench. Kirkby would be stiff to miss out.

As discussed on RPH last night, I think this is a pretty good team, but maybe just a couple of changes for mine...
B: Zorzi (Nwd), Mills (GL), Coad (St)
HB: Thomas (CD), Ferguson (WA), B. Kane (GL)
C: O'Hara (CD), Sheedy (St), Fisher (GL)
HF: Archard (NA), Herring (St). Ezard (WA)
F: O'Sullivan (CD), Chambers (St), Gum (St)
1st ruck: Cranston (GL), Murray (PA), Allan (NA)
Inter: Miekeljohn (PA), McKenzie (WWT), Dutschke (CD)
The unlucky ones to miss out from my side are:
Allen (GL), Jarrad (WWT), Dolling (PA), Panozzo (GL), Wright (NA), Davies (WA), McGlone (St) and Fisher (WA)

CK. Why Fisher on the HBF ? I can't ever recall him lining up there. I'd have Panozzo over Fisher on the HBF.....
P.S Thanks for the tickets last night

No worries, hope you enjoy the game
It was one slight deviation from the normal policy of not naming players in their regular position. The feeling on this one was that Fisher certainly deserved his place and could adapt, in a match day situation, to playing from half back.
The reasoning for the inclusion for Cockshell was that he could play as a tall utility off the bench and after missing the opening games of the season, his form was exceptional for South, with the umpires awarding 2 BOG's in the Magarey (although again, Magarey performances could not have been taken into account at time of writing). The team was picked as if it would actually be lining up tomorrow, so the bench was chosen for versatility, ability to play other roles if necessary and for any injuries etc.

Seriously CK, if Cockshell was in the best 22 players in the SANFL this season, we've got huge problems.

Put Kenny in that spot, I say.

A good CHB, and a handy pinch hitter up forward (6 goals in a quarter against North, 3 in a quarter against Central are his memorable forays there this season).
Edit: The Team of the Year has four on the bench to coincide with State team selection.

I understand your reasoning but Kirkby, McGregor and Damon White can do the same thing and in my opinion have had far better years. I guess you have to keep the south supporters happy though.

Cockshell missed a fair part of the season, which wouldn't help his chances for this team in front of some others. He makes a very tall bench, too.
I have to say that his form in a poorly performing team was very good. West thumped South when he played, but I thought he was one of the few South players to give everything he had that day.
Apart from Adam Fisher at half-back (explanation accepted, CK), it's a well-selected team and the best I've seen so far, with some very sensible selections.
Serious question. All these teams have O'Hara on the wing as an automatic selection. I only saw Central twice this year and he didn't do a lot. Last year, I certainly rated him highly, but can Centrals fans give a fair appraisal of his form this year.
Finally.
CK, backs named first

Similar to your team CK which i think is pretty much on the matk. If it was a four man bench I'd chuck in Ty Allen from us.
Not sure what the fuss is about Murray and Cockshell. OK players stand out in mediocre teams. For an onballer I'd pick Sheedy, Wright, Murphy and Ciccollela in addition to those mentioned above before Murray. As a Ruckman/CPP I'd pick McKenzie, Kirkby Dabrowski, Webb, Alleway, Kurtze and Ackland before Cockshell.

Why are we naming teams from the back lines?
Stupid Victorian VFL/AFL convention. This is South Australia and the SANFL where we name teams from the forward lines and behind posts are red (or they used to be).
Burns me up that ABC1 do the same thing with the teams.

Its worse when the 1st ruck combination is named in the middle of the printed team.
