2009 Magarey Medal (plus coverage details)

The count is held at AAMI Stadium on Tuesday night and while there is no radio broadcast of the night, Channel 9 will take some crosses during the count. On 5RPH on Monday morning from 7am to 9am, John Nankivell and myself will give the most comprehensive pre-count analysis possible, looking at all clubs and the chances of players from each club.

Who is everybody's pick?

Glenelg - Ty Allen, Adam Fisher, Trevor Cranston

Central - Chad O'Sullivan, Paul Thomas, Scott Dutschke

Sturt - Tristain Gum, Jade Sheedy

Eagles - Mark Mackenzie

North - Jimmy Allan, Matthew Wright

West - James Ezard

I think the winner will come from one of these blokes and whilst I'd love to see Chad O'Sullivan win it, I think Jimmy Allan will win his 2nd medal.

While I listed my top 5 in Sportsbeat and will list it again on Monday morning, you have missed the player I think is the real smoky in all key areas, despite the low ladder finish. Brad Murray from Port ticks a number of crucial K.P.I's and is unlikely to lose too many votes to teammates.

Will have to defy history in winning from 8th place, however. The last Medallist to come from that low on the ladder was the 1972 winner, Malcolm Blight.

Yeah, considered him CK, but not sure his last month of footy was that great and of course with Port finishing 8th, it was tough to find anyone from below the top 5 or 6 sides.

Will be Port's best vote getter by a country mile and may finish in the top 5 I reckon...

Not much good to us in the country without channel 9

Hope someone would be good enough to post as many updates on here as possible on the night pleeeeease.

My tip: J.Allan, Ezard & Murray in a 3 way tie on 16 votes each.

But he might pick up quite a few votes IMO...which means Sheedy/Gum could struggle to win

I have found 2 exceptional bets for this years medal on Thorntons website

Both have had stellar seasons with Sturt

Anderson $31
T Lee $51

Best chances from Norwood
David Rodan at $101 is a good roughie
Scott Borlace $301 is also a top hope

Can the public go to the count this year and, if so, what are the details?

LifeFM and SAFooty.net both have tried unsuccessfully to cover the night live.

After discussions with the SANFL they have agreed to cover the count via their website http://www.sanfl.com.au in real time.

This will supplement the live crosses from Channel 9 @ 6.10pm, 7.30pm, 8.30pm, 9.30pm and 10.30pm (featuring an interview with the winner). I will attempt to Youtube this ASAP for our interstate/overseas members or those that missed it.

Updates will also be available in the SANFL Twitter site Image

We will also have a contact at the count should the above methods fail us!

So hopefully we will have all the latest news on here and the SANFL site during Tuesday night.
