just wondering if anyone can come up with players that your club has recruited, the player turned out to be a good player, great club man and great bloke but time at the club was cut short due to injury, work etc???

As mentioned above, Flood, Smith and Wynd at Central, but I'll also add to the list Peter Green, Nathan Grima and Kent Butcher (who never actually ended up playing a game for the Doggies)

not my club but ... Barrie Robran.

Only saw him live at the end of his career when he was on one leg ... he could still run rings around most.

Agreed goraw. He left for family reasons but in his time at North he was pretty handy. Was a shame to lose him.

Stuey Bown ... Played for quite a lengthy time, but still had a couple more seasons in him that he couldn't get to due to health and business.

Dunno I'd agree with Butcher - the criteria inlcuded "good bloke" and he dudded us in the way the deal was handled.

The player I thought of was Greg Edwards - teh doggies only 100 goals in a season player who had his career tragically terminated by injury just as he was reaching his peak.

I'd agree with that, very good player ... lost his sight in an eye from memory, is that correct?

Yep, in a pre-season trial against Glenelg. I was there and one of the worst injuries I have seen on a footy field.

Would Peter Motley, after a successful VFL/AFL career, have returned to Sturt for a couple of seasons?

Great player back in some wonderful days of SA footy ... You had Michael Wright at CHF who was a great character (opposition supporters used to love getting stuck into him, but he gave as good as he got) and then the mercurial Edwards at Full Forward.

Ultra sad that we didn't get to see a lot more of him.

That's right - Wright and Edwards seemed to have a good understanding between each other and ofter shared the ball when one was in a better position for a shot at goal.
