i will keep it short and simple, when the conditions were dry the bays were dominant, every time it got greasy the eagles more than held their own. Thats the way i saw it anyway, thoughts?

Just witnessed the most inept display of umpiring by "Deboy" that I have ever seen.
How this umpire could get a league game is beyond belief.
Surely the clubs should lodge an official complaint as this effort is not acceptable.
Glenelg were too good anyway and the umpiring standard affected both sides.

Unfortunately I agree. He looked well out of his depth, but, the way some Eagles supporters in the outer were treating him was also a disgrace.

We play well in the wet for some reason. Don't ask me how, it just happens.

It was one of those rare occasions where we had nothing to play for - not to secure a finals berth, not for the double chance or minor premiership. In fact, if 4th place after Round 23 won a prize, we secured that before today, too.

So there is not a lot to comment on, except when it was dry, Glenelg looked far too good. We just need it to rain during the finals. ;)

Agree on the comments about Deboy. Disgraceful umpiring. Absolutely pathetic performance and he shouldn't be umpiring league football again.

Glenelg as expected a class above. A nothing game for the Eagles really. Bring on September.

Took the kids today to see the most inept, incompetent and indescribable display of umpiring. Just when I thought the Centrals v Sturt game was the pits for SANFL umpiring, along came the bozos today. I swear I have seen them on Nikolodeon.

your all missing the point...don't dismiss the Eagles effort today.....

Glenelg are regarded as the top team this year and the Eagles pushed them right till the end.....

Put Salter, Boadbent and Stewart into the Eagles side next time will be even closer or a different result.....

that young lad umpiring made some terrible errors both ways....

don't know what happened in the seconds?

I'd be interested in readin the feeling Torrens fans have with regards to their finals prospects? It seems we have a lot of Central supporters who think everyone is crap but them and Glenelg (maybe), whereas I tend to think there are chances for everyone to upstage more fancied opponents. So come on Eagles fans, do you think you have a chance to progress past week one or two?

Yup, it was terrible. It went both ways though...so at least they're consistent!!

I just hope that JMac (Mr McConnell) doesn't secure himself a finals series by milking free kicks like today - he goes into the Record as a four goaler for today - that will just not hold up in a final...I have lost faith in the man after the last couple of years...

Still a solid win today. I think we just have to get used to the shoddy umpiring standards, it's a rare week when they don't cop a mention in the SNAFFLE.

Glenelg won by 90 points in the Reserves. I believe our Seconds players were tanking so as not to have a three week break! ;)

Good tough game.

Bays had the edge all day , though I thought at times we pushed them.

Impressed with the Bays run and link football, best team I've seen all year.

Would have been an advantage to have Deboy umpiring in your forward line today. McConnell sucked him in on everyone of his goals , other than his mark/goal.

McConnell has the skills but what a chump. Even the Bay supporters around me were ashamed with his diving antics.

Deboy should have umpired in the middle all day , then at least it wouldn't advantage any team.

Bays to be premiers
If at first you don't succeed , then destroy all evidence that you tried in the first place

You always have hope and from an Eagles point of view I'd have hope that with the talent to be included (Salter and Broadbent in particular) we can win against anyone if everything clicks.

Trying to look at it impartially, the top 3 sides have proven to be a step above 4th and 5th and there shouldn't really be any reason to not heavily favour those three sides to finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd after the major round as well.

Still, you got to be in it to win it.

bays were never ever going to lose today & stampy is correct because for some reason most of wwt's goals game when it rained & then in 'junk time' at the end

after seeing sturt for 3 weeks in a row along with glenelg & central last night i have no doubt whatsoever that the grand final will be a repeat of last years match up....hopefully with a different result ;)

the umpiring was atrocious but it did not cost the eagles the game & afterall if you play in front you'll get the majority of the decisions
i thought secret groups were a thing of the past, well not on websites anyway
