Any chance we get Hayden skipworth and Matthew Whelan back next year. also heard maybe a arron Shatock could be interested in a return.

Isn't Skipworth contracted at Essendon for another year ?

The Eagles won't be going after Whelan, his knees are stuffed. Aaron Shattock was past it when he left the Eagles, going backwards if we chase him.

Would love to get Skippy back.

Skippy got a 2 year deal I think, he may pursue other options after that in Melbourne I feel. Whelan is finished - most AFL players have little to offer when they are his age with a history of injuries. Shattock just was not a sound player and the great Choko even worked that out - last I heard he was well settled in Queensland, he would not have anything to offer the Eagles unfortunately. Our recruiting is usually based on players who are under 23 years of age and have the potential to play for us for at least 4 years. Mind you we have pulled some spectacular duds here in recent years with our big ticket targets ...Schwarze, Toia, Biagi and almost another current player. Passadore returning to Victoria as everyone knows but his body is waving the white flag.

Being contracted doesn't mean anything. I think even skippy himself could see the writing on the wall - with the Essendon injury list at the moment and he can't force his way into their side.

I highly doubt Shattock - he's now 29 (although we did take a risk on McGregor at 28yo) currently captaining Labrador Tigers in the QAFL.
Would love to get Skippy back - he's surely going to be delisted by the Bombers at seasons end.
Matthew Whelan - again 29yo is now very injury prone. Would be too risky but handy if he can stay fit

RE Skipworth: I would think Essendon would keep him for next year. Because he is probably not trade material, I would think that if he was to be delisted they would still have to pay out the remainder of his contract, which would be included in next year's salary cap. From reports earlier in the season, Skipworth is a good leader and mentor for the younger players and would probably still be an asset around the club even if he only gets to play a few games next year.

RE Passador: Whether he stays or not, our number one priority during the off-season has to be a key forward. Passador will only be playing his 4th game for the season tomorrow but we have been lucky to have cover this year with Salter - I don't think we'll be afforded the same luxury next year. Hill has been promising when played at full forward but I would think is probably still another couple of years away from playing there week-in, week-out.

Salter will play more AFL next year
Hill has been invited to the afl draft camp

13 SA boys off to Draft Camp

Glenelg's Alex Carey

THIRTEEN of SA’s most promising young footballers have been invited to the AFL’s Draft Camp in Canberra from September 30 to October 2.

Headed by top three draft prospect Jack Trengove from Sturt they include:

Byron Sumner (Eagles)
Derick Wanganeen (Port Adelaide)
Justin Bollenhagen (South Adelaide)
Alex Carey (Glenelg)
Tom Harms (Sturt)
Luke Tapscott (North Adelaide)
Daniel Menzel (Central District)
Simon Potts (North Adelaide)
Josh Giddings (Glenelg)
Matthew Panos (Norwood)
James Craig (North Adelaide)
Jack Hannath (Central District)

Meanwhile 25 players, including Sturt League ruckman Angus Kurtze, Bulldogs midfielder Brayden O’Hara and Westies half forward Daniel Webb have been invited to a state screening session on November 26. They include:

Pat Contin (Glenelg)
Tyson Davis-Neale (South Adelaide)
Fraser Evans (Sturt)
Mark Evans (Norwood)
Zac Fitzgerald (Eagles)
Stuart Hill (Eagles)
Nick Homburg (West Adelaide)
George Long (Port Adelaide)
Warwick McGinty (Glenelg)
Ben Nason (Central District)
Jesse O’Brien (Central District)
Craig Pitt (North Adelaide)
Gavin Roberts (Norwood)
Peter Rolfe (South Adelaide)
Daniel Scott-Collings (Glenelg)
Taite Silverlock (West Adelaide)
Jack Stephens (Sturt)
Jesse Stringer (Port Adelaide)
Matthew Thompson (Sturt)
Nick Westhoff (West Adelaide)
Jay Williams (Port Adelaide).

Norwood livewire Roland Ah Chee has also been invited to attend after starring for NT in the under-18 national championships.

Looks like only 1 Eagle invited to AFL Draft camp and Hill being named for the State screening day.

Has never really cemented his spot, would think he might be under the pump unless Hardwick can see something that the previous coaches didn't.
