Joking.
Have heard he struggled tactically on game day, but to sack him just sums up the club.
Was the heart and soul of the club, but it comes as no surprise. We're talking about South Adelaide here.

I find this very hard to believe as Clay apparently is one of the persons conducting the review of the football operations (with Sharpe and Kavanagh) at South. Very hard for a hog to butcher itself....

Seriously though, sacking Clay Sampon is the worst thing they can do right now.

Agreed. The club will be in more trouble than the early settlers if true.

Quote from SAFC membership letter dated 3/8/09,"The board, and indeed the playing group ,are united in their desire for Clay to continue to lead our club".
End of story.

Hate to sya it but isnt a public declaration that the players\board etc are behind the coach usually the first step to getting rid of them?
How many times has it happened that that sort of declaration is made and shortly after the coach "steps aside"? didnt Norwood make a similar statement shortly before Trevor Hill resigned?

I can remember not too far back at an SANFL club, the acting chairman getting up at a home match lunch I attended on a Sunday after specifically requesting the opportunity to speak publically on behalf of the board to reiterate the board's support of that coach, explain why a review was being done and answer a few questions. Only 33 hours later that same board, so publically keen to state their support, voted to sack the coach.
Early the next afternoon a rumour appeared on this site stating the coach was sacked. I thought the rumour was totally and utterly ridiculous, it was only 2 days ago the board's acting chairman had publically got up to state their support. Well on that day I was proven most wrong.
I hope I am not wrong here, personally with all the bias involved you wish to throw my way, they need to stick with Clay and give him the support to make it work at the Panthers. From my understanding of the members letter that will be the focus of any changes that need to be made. And thats the way it should be.

If they sent a letter to members 4 days ago which was after last week's poor game, offering him support in his position as coach, if they sack him now, they should all, everyone of them resign too.
How can you intentionally mislead your membership like that?
I would have no support for the board, if I was a member of that club.
The members, should then call a meeting for a vote of 'no confidence' in the board and call for a vote on a new one.
