Dogs did it easy. There were times the machine was moving over slickly. A few times we got a bit cocky but to be honest I thought South did well to contain the damage as it looked like there was going to be a much bigger margin.
Richie sensational in defence. Dutschke gave us early drive. Thommo excellent - especially his chase and pressure. Eddie could've had his kicking boots on!

What did the regulars think of the crowd size today? Understandably small but...that''s the smallest crowd I can remember seeing at a Dogs game for a while...

Big Phil...crowd figure?

Yeah, don't remember walking through the grandstand side gathering with that much ease. I'll admit I'm no great judge, somewhere in the 1100 to 1400 range perhaps?

Crowd wouldn't have been anymore than 1800 IMO.

It may be a while before he is able to answer that question. He's probably chained naked to a stobie pole somewhere by now.

(anyone who heard CK's commentary on Life FM would appreciate the above statement)

Goalkickers
Centrals: Chris Gowans 4, James Gowans 4, Westhoff 4, O'Sullivan 3 and singles to O'Sullivan, Jenner, Goodrem, Sansbury, Dutschke, Hayes and Switala.
South: Thewlis 4 and singles to Redigolo, Warren, Cockshell, Handby, Cook, Bowd and Veide.

Cook was looking good, didn't have huge numbers but when he touched it he oozed class, but took a big knock in the third term and didn't return, struggled to breathe a bit as he was hit in the 'groin' and also sustained a nasty bruise on his hip, may be in doubt for next week I'd suggest.

Played a bit in the midfield and the back lines, pity he is another small, if he had another 6 inches on him he could be dangerous.

By my count I think that extra single was another to Sansbury.

Thought we looked too good. Griffin was fantastic, the Gowans clean as always, Lawry dominated whenever the ball went near Warren while I thought Sansbury was just carving them up. It was amazing how often he started shoulder to shoulder with an opponent and ended up clear. Only blight a few missed shots for goal, but generally his skills and decision making was much, much better than the first half of the season at least. Looking like the player we thought he was going to be when he got drafted.

Funniest moment of the day was Neagle decking a Gowans, then running away as fast as he could to avoid the follow up. Fastest he's ever run. Pity there was another Gowans coming the other way he didn't see......

Didnt make a bad decesion all day

Come to think of it, didnt make a decesion all day

Actually, he didnt do a bad job, he let a lot go that could have been penalised, was consistent with the other two, they still dont give enough protection to a blokes head, I'm sure those ones are not hard to see, and they definately do not give a reward for a tackler who has done nothing against the rules, yet they take the easy way out by having a bounce up.

If Williams and Phiefer dont have to much influence on his learning, I think he will make the grade.

What I terrible comment. Imagine if we took away the protection for a bloke making the play and said you don't have to have a chance to get rid of it, you can try to get it out as much as you can but because the bloke made a good tackle we're pinging you. Laying a tackle within the rules is it's own reward whether you get a free or not. Those people who want to reward good tackles with free kicks "just because" would ruin the game as a spectacle because players would make the ball priority number 2 more often than they do now. The free kick is not paid to a player for playing within the rules, it's paid against a player for playing against the rules.

I believe a massive positive out of the game, was the awesome form of Chris and James. To the "poster" that wrote them off earlier in the year (I think it was a Sturt supporter), I think you may have been a bit premature. Well done Gowans times two, and yes I know who their competition was.
