I'm happy that we got the 20 goals, but even considering that, I felt a bit like driving at night with the warm air coming through the air conditioner. I liked Polecs' game, he looks to be a star of the SANFL - only we won't have him after the next year. Symmons went in hard for the ball, Grocke as always leading up forward, and Salter demanding (and delivering another 5 odd goals). Hier and McGregor marshalled in the backlines and Cica found the ball a lot.

Not sure how to feel after this game Eagles coasted to a nice win.Our Port Adelaide listed players who came back in today didnt really do a lot.Yep Salter kicked 5 but he wasn't really sighted until late in the game.Broadbent didnt do much either .First game back syndrome .
Better players Cica ,Mackenzie(did he look great in the third)and Polec what a kid !!

Cook was very good.
Easy win against average opposition. Good to see the Eagles run the game out well. Highlights for me were the games by Polec and Goldsworthy. Both young guns with a big future.
Treeby seemed to get through his half of reserves well and Powell played the full game. Good signs. Thought Banner was b.o.g. in the reserves big win over South.
Just a matter of tinkering with the team leading in to finals and hopefully building some solid form in the next fortnight with a finals place now sealed.

Aerie Mate pretty sure Luke Powell played 3 quarters and his groin was wrapped in ice after he came off the ground.
Eagles played 3 quarters again today went missing in the third as per usual

Very concerned at how South played today, I would be interested in the "Hard Ball Gets" Statistic as from where I was it looked pretty appalling to say the least, time after time WWT players got the ball cheaply as our players either gave up or stood out of the contest. It kept going through my mind as the scores came across from Alberton at how Cotton has been coaching Norwood and benching players for similar acts, the then scored a difficult win over Port at Alberton as a result. Norwood are no where near the five, yet compared to South are miles ahead at the moment and that should be a real worry for SAFC people.

I would think with efforts like today south could be the fourth club looking for a new coach seeing Sampsons contract is up at the end of the year!
PS
I edited this post Sunday Morning I had a little to much sun Saturday .Just in case anyone read what I wrote last night!!

A couple of senior players seemed guilty of that from where I sat which would have to be very dissapointing for the coach, other players and supporters like yourself Sojourner, one in particular almost looked uninterested on a couple of occasions...certainaly not the kind of example you want to have set in a team with so many younger players.

Again for the second week as our stats caller it seemed to me I was calling a lot more handballs for both teams. Reckon may be close to 50:50 handballs to kicks.
Might just be perception but i wish i had a dollar for everytime i called a handball!

Solid win but against poor opposition I probably expected a bigger margin. With players like Powell, Treeby and Passador to come back before the finals things are looking up. Onwards to West at Fortress Woodville next week hopefuly we can defeat them for the first time this season. Selection should be interesting.

I have been saying all year alot of players out there wearing the SAFC jumper have been looking disinterested.
Not the result we wanted today...but really was there ever going to be a better one???
Serious issues at the SAFC need to be resolved.......

I wonder if the goal umpire down the southern end in the 3rd quarter will get a game next week?

Aha, yes, he looked to respond to a South player saying "good goal South", then made the decision based on that.
Then there was the boundary umpire who threw the ball in 15 metres from where the ball went out not long after that.
In the last quarter an Eagles player (may have been Westbrook) was run down by a South player and it was called play on! I know everyone was dumbfounded by that.
Then you have Cheep in the first quarter who was dragged down off the footy and it was called play on. I know the big South supporter with the deep squawking voice was quiet about that, but not when the next decision was paid against South.

I think Jarad Polec will be at the Eagles next year...........too young to be drafted. Born 12/10/1992.

Yes that point that was a goal was an interesting call.As were the missed out of bounds and at least one out on the full that was missed.
So does anyone know why the boundary line was so far in from the fence. The small numbers of fans could have sat around the boundary line it was that far in .Or all the cars had room to park around the line
And Souths Ruckman got just deserts Cockshell I think he was .Going in and laying both knees into opponents on the ground Eagles players have very long memories .Was a just desert though coming off the ground with a shoulder injury .
And a very low call by myself on a poor South player .After someone had a go at Jay cheep then someone picked on cica.Couldn't help yelling out to cica "Dont worry about him (number 5 or 6) Cica tell him you'll be playing finals while he sits at the bottom of the ladder"
That didnt go down well with the surrounding Panthers fans
