Thebarton or Woodville

Postby eaglehaslanded » Thu Aug 13, 2009 10:08 pm

Which of these two venues do we prefer watching footy at. I prefer Thebby as it tends to have a better atmoshere to it.

I voted Woodville yes I know thebbie is sacred ground .But the atmosphere would be the same if all my torrens brethren would go to woodville.
Plus the added costs to the club it would be better spent on enticing the players we need or going towards that .
Just my two cents worth .
And yes I have good and shocking memories of thebbie.

I voted for Woodville aswell, facilities are better for everyone.

Have lots of memories of going to Thebby as a kid..one of which was watching the Singapore Airlines plane come or go from the airport each weeekend....and no doubt that will happen again this week....the other great memory was of Robbie Muir jumping the fence!!...having said all that the inital novelty value of playing there seems to have worn off and seeing as the relationship between the club and charles sturt has improved maybe 1 game a year is sufficient now.
Trust the process.

I like Woodville but voted Thebby as it's only a few blocks away from home

I voted Thebarton as the Bays have struggled to win at Woodville.

Very divisive question with no middle ground option. So I have chosen not to answer.

I would like the option of both included.

I enjoy football at both grounds. personally I think the majority of games at Woodville with one or two games at Thebarton is the right mix. Dont know how that opinion fits into the poll.

I prefer Woodville which is a perfectly good ground to watch football at.
I like Thebarton too so the odd game there would be good, as much as anything to try and get a few of the Torrens disaffected back, the ones who have never connected to the merged entity.

One match a year is not sufficent really for Thebarton Oval, WWT should play at least two games a year at the venue and I do think that the SANFL should use it for third matches between other sides.

Hopefully they can move on with the lights project and get it up and running as a SANFL venue for night footy which wouldent hurt WWT attendences!

for some strange reason, when you go to Thebarton Oval, you feel like you are going to watch a real game of footy, the atmosphere at Woodville seems strange, almost sterile, not rabid enough maybe. Maybe it's the doughnuts, I dunno. I used to shit myself when I was a teen at Thebby Oval, it was the skinhead pommies from Elizabeth going to clash with the wogs from Torrens, either greek or italian, mainly greek I think (even better at Richmond, with the croydon boys), whereas Woodville Oval has a park-like feel to it, maybe it's all the old people.

You could be mixing Woodville Oval up with Unley as Unley has a playground.

I'm with Phil on this one. Whilst Woodville hasn't been a happy hunting ground for Centrals, I still rate it as one of the better grounds in the SANFL. Whilst I've only been to Thebarton once since SANFL games returned there (2007 ANZAC Day game), I was surprised the oval was in good condition, and certainly superior to some SANFL grounds that are used week in week out.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Agreed, Thebby would be one of my fav but for some reason I never used to like Woodville but these days really enjoy it.
Its a pity some of the better footy grounds are so close by, if we could just up and plonk Thebby where Unley is it'd be ideal.

Reckon Woody Oval has arguably the best Family Friendly area in the league. Only 15 minutes from Woodville Park Station too.

Yeah, always did have that feel about it. The ANZAC Day game there was special.

Didn't vote either, no middle option.
