I've seen no mention of a SANFL Hall of Fame dinner or any inductees this year.
It usually has taken place in August. Any details?

Thanks for that lead. That is the AFL. What about the local Hall of Fame?

There will be no South Australian Football Hall of Fame inductees this year. The SANFL cited the downturn in the ecomony as the reason. Can't afford it apparently

Bwahahaha, can afford over 5 million dollars to give to Port but can't afford a dinner they could virtually make pay for itself if handled well!
Sounds like its too much effort for them.

So getting into the Hall of Fame is proportional to a strong economy??
How much shite do the SA local football going public have to eat from these people before enough is enough?

They've cancelled a few events and downgraded several other citing similar reasons....

It is but they're having in that small old hall at Footy Park instead of at a decent place.
Suprised they don't go back to 40 years ago and hold a count in the town hall and ring the winner.

The biggest drawback in the SANFL?
The SANFL itself.
What a bunch of bozo's we have running the show, any lame excuse is good enough apparently to fool the people who support them.
If its cost they are worried about, charge the Hall of Famers and those that come along $120 a person, that should help the SANFL out.

IMHO it is a pathetic decision.
I reckon it reeks of insult to the Hall of Fame members and the SANFL should be embarrassed.
So much for creating a "Tradition". Now turns out to be pretty much a waste of time and shows how little the "powers that be" actually regard any history of football in this state.

I don't have any problem with it. If they're finding money a little tight at the moment then it's prudent to cut a big extravaganza. And comments it would pay for itself are crap. After all the people you'd invite who you couldn't charge for you'd be asking such a high price nobody beyond the mega rich would be able to attend. And I think if they're not going to put on a really big extravagant event then it would be ebst not to have one at all this year, but perhaps have a double dose next year.

If they don't want to do it, ok.
But don't feed us the BS or blame the economy for it.
The SANFL has insulted the intelligence of the SA footy public 3 times in the space of a month.

I know someone else suggested everyone pay a fee but I wasn't, I was thinking more along holding it a venue where public could buy tables of 10 and organising sponsorship for various things making it a bit more economically sound. It might not be enough to fully cover costs but the coverage it gets gets the SANFL some good and free publicity which is priceless.
