Rnd 19 - Norwood v Eagles @ Coopers Preview (Sat 8/8)

The Redlegs are starting to play some reasonble footy under interim coach Jarrod Cotton and went down to the Tigers last week by a lot less than almost everyone was prediciting.

He has blooded some talented youngsters in recent weeks and has shown that discipline and accountability is a must if you want to wear a Redlegs jumper anymore.

The Eagles have been a bit up and down woth form, perhaps because of the big turnover of players so far this year, with injuries and the comings and goings of AFL listed players.

All makes it set up for what should be a good, entertaining game of football, that I will certainly be there to have a look at. At this early stage, I might actually tip the Leg's by 2 goals.

The commings and goings of AFL guys may continue this week as Broadbent and Stewart missed out on a game with the Power, both would be handy inclusions for this week if it falls that way, wouldnt expect that we would be seeing Nick Salter however....but stranger things have happened!

Apologies as I think I might have asked this question before, but is Salter a home grown WWT boy? I've always been a fan of the way the kid plays and I reckon he has a very bright future (as does Broadbent).

Sorry to have digressed ... From a Legs point of view, win, lose or draw we need to see similar commitment and application to what we saw on the weekend at the Bay.

I get a feeling Walker could well be back at the Crows this weekend, so that opens another position for someone to try and make sure they're a part of 2010 calculations.

I'd think the Eagles have more to play for and they enjoy Norwood Oval so I think they'll get the job done, but Im hoping my boys can pull off* a bit of an upset ... Either way should be great to enjoy a Coopers and watch a bit of footy.

Off topic sorry, but who would you drop from the Crows to get Walker in, who incidentally I thought Millsy did a pretty good job on.

LOL I knew someone would ask me this question, and without having seen the Crows v Geelong game yet, I couldn't say mate.

But, I reckon NC would want to get some more AFL footy into Walks pretty soon, so sometime in the next weeks I reckon he'll go up - Whether that is via direct replacement for a Forward, or shifting someone out of the Crows forwardline to fill another hole Im not sure, but I think he'll get a run with them soon.

I guess I could have just written "Player Management" as a reason instead of that spiel huh

I thought Salter ended up playing for the Power against the Hawks yesterday, I think he kicked a couple of goals from memory (listening to the game on radio) ??

As for Salter being a homegrown lad from the Eagles, yes he is CP. I was actually listening to the game on 5AA from Nick Salter's home town of Clare (now the WWTFC zone) as I was up there yesterday for more wedding prep !!

Yeah he did play for the Power yesterday mate (and I was already aware of it), just seemed a reasonable place to inquire about his background, cheers for letting me know.

Will one of the Eagles assistants have a big say in coaching this week ?
Will Trent play at CHB ?
Will Kenny start at FF?
Will Redden play in the ruck is he over his sickness ?
Will Walker play for the Crows ?

Small oval whoever gets the ball out of centre(hopefully Eagles)should kick long to the FF line .

You'd expect Eagles to start favourites, but with it being at The Parade and Norwood completely outclassing the Eagles last time they met, it will be a tough one to pick.

Probably at least two forced changes this week with Sumner injured and Salter going to the Power. Will perhaps get Stewart and Broadbent back from the Power so they could be the only changes. Peter Fiacchi should also be ready to resume so he may slot straight back in to the league team or have a run in the ressies.

I'd keep Miles as 2nd ruck and have Redden play reserves. Would play Hentschel at CHB and have McGregor start Full Forward replacing Salter.

Walker is the danger man. Has killed us the two times we've played him.

Reserves @ Norwood @ 11.15 am
League @ Norwood @ 2 pm
U18s @ Norwood @ 4.45 pm

Eagles u18s (6th) need to win the last four games by a bit and hope that Central (5th) only 2 and no more than 3 and lose by a lot. Central are a game and % ahead of us at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that change. As a crows supporter it frustrates me he keeps getting as many opportunities to impress as he does. If I was on the selection committee I would have had him dropped back to the bays long before now.
