Saturday at the Bay, should be a nice day weather wise, hopefully a big crowd (that's if Norwood folk haven't put the scarf's away).

For Glenelg, Grima is out with his broken wrist, but in all likelihood could see Backwell, Meyer, Douglas, Logan & Carr come into the side.

Not sure on the possible ins/outs for Norwood, but Walker could be the emergency for the Crows.

Should be a good game, but Glenelg too strong at home.

Bays by 32 points

A disciplinary matter. Norwood are getting serious.

'In house' disciplinary reasons.
IIRC Toby & Brady will play reserves, while Will O’Malley will play U18's

Good on Cott's for showing players that he means business in the discipline department...

Certainly ticking all the right boxes in regards to getting the gig full time for 2010, just has to get more good results on field.

Norwood fans thoughts on the AFL???

Salopek, Carr and Meyer definate ins for the Bays (I assume Carr and Meyer are well again), possibly Logan and Douglas (on extended benches I understand).

Thomas and Walker get the call up - Walker to collect Frequent Flyer points....

Imagine Glenelg's midfield of Douglas, Logan, Carr and Salopek (Meyer more likely to be HBF).

Phil Harper said on 5AA that the travelling emergency will be confirmed tomorrow because there is possibly some doubt on Brett Burton who pulle up sore from the Showdown. There was also mention that with the Eagles having a bye, Jared Petrenko could be the travelling emergency. I've never understood why when a player is in good SANFL form and goes interstate as the TE but doesn't play, how that is a good thing for the guy in question, in that they go from playing well to having a week completely off from football...

Remembering also that Norwood had the bye the week before, so Walker would have only played 1 game in 3 weeks. Hardly good preparation .. but since when did AFL clubs care about their players?

Great to see young Panos get a league game, is certainly a talent and very likely to be drafted next season...

Just on the disciplinary action on a few Leg's players, there is a good article from the Messenger website on this topic...

OUT: Toby Schulz

NORWOOD defender Toby Schulz has been dropped for this weekend’s clash with Glenelg after failing to attend a compulsory recovery session on Sunday morning.

The 20-year-old, who received the Coca Cola Star Search Award nomination for his 24-possession game against the Panthers on Saturday, will serve a one-week ban in the Reserves.

``It’s extremely disappointing. I’ve got no one to blame but myself,’’ Schulz said.

``We had a Sunday recovery session and I accidentally didn’t wake up. It’s my fault.’’

League ruckman Brady Dawe and Reserves player Will O’Malley also missed the session and have been subsequently punished.

Dawe will drop back to the Reserves while O’Malley will return to the under-18s.

Norwood coach Jarrod Cotton said the players’ actions were unacceptable.

``It’s an accountability thing. They took it upon themselves not to go and didn’t let me know. That’s unacceptable at our club,’’ he said.

``Some people might say its hard, but in my opinion it’s unacceptable and hopefully something that will never happen again at this footy club.’’

Schulz had played well in both games since making his debut against North Adelaide in Round 15.

He had played three seasons in the Reserves - winning the best and fairest last season - before being given an opportunity at League level when Cotton took over as coach when Trevor Hill resigned.

``He’s played two good games, he’s been in the best players the two games he’s played,’’ Cotton said.

``He needs to go back with the right attitude and while there’s no guarantees he’ll only be down for one week, he can put his hand up again.’’

As a Norwood supporter, this thread reduces you to squinting, kind of like looking at a grizzly accident in the happening and that's the feeling you get for this game, that it could be messy.

That said, Caretaker Cotton is sending the right message and continues to offer opportunity for those who want to play League footy for Norwood, to display whether they are up to it or not.

Glenelg have been a top side for a while now and have owned Norwood during that period (and truth be told, even beforehand) and whilst they still have a fight on their hands for the minor premiership, they're highly unlikely to take the game lightly.

There's quite a discrepancy between the two teams and their abilities, and I reckon the Bays (unfortunately) will roll the Leggies this weekend ... Either way, beers and Pie Floater on Snouts Hill sounds a recipe for a good afternoon, look forward to catching up with a few of you on Satdee!!

Good luck to Matty Panos who is a certainty to spend only the remainder of this year at the Parade.

Unless of course he gets picked up by Port or the Crows ;)

Yeah I thought that while I was writing it lol, although I'd think it unlikely he'll last that long.

I sure hope you’re wrong CP.
At first look I thought this could be a very interesting line-up for us.
To be honest, even if we get a flogging, it could be an entertaining experiment.
A chance to take stock and try a few new things, with new players, for future reference.
My only major concern is the Bay forwards. I seem to remember they have some talls
and good leapers that might be asking a bit too much of Jackman and co.
With all the close SANFL finishes this season, ya just never know what could happen.
I seem to remember a past Glenelg coach who always used to talk about having
‘A Silly Chance’.
;)
C’mon Norwood faithful, let’s get there in big and vocal numbers.

p.s. What’s Graham Campbell doing these days. Anyone know ?

No, CP is quite right. Pie floaters and beers on Snout's Hill are indeed a civil way to pass a Satdee arvo. 8)

This is a very important game this week for the Bays, not so much about keeping the 1 game margin for top spot, but more to build up momentum for the finals.

Last year, the Bays were sitting in a similar position and lost 3 games in the run into the finals, with the final result for all to see.

There have been key injuries to Hinge and Grima in the last 2 weeks, some potential unsettling effects of AFL players coming into the side and an inaccurate and somewhat disfunctional forward line and inefficient possessions of late ... so while they are 1 game clear at the head of the ladder and have only lost 2 1/2 games for the year, the Bays must not only sort out the forward issues but need to settle the team for the finals.

I can't see the Bays taking Norwood lightly and look forward to how the team will respond to the issues above.
