AFL listed players qualified for SANFL finals

With only 6 weeks left until the finals, I guess the sides around the mark to play in September are going to start looking at the players on AFL lists that have played* the 3 games in SANFL ranks to qualify for our finals series.

From what I can figure out going by memory (perhaps Spelly or PhilH can confirm games played this season), these are the players qualified so far, please feel free to add to the lists as they come up over the next six games or if I missed any in the original lists.

* Like Richard Douglas (Glenelg) at the Crows, players can still get games counted toward their qualification requirements despite not actually playing if they are emergencies for their AFL sides and are held back from SANFL duties in case players withdraw from AFL sides at the last minute.

The other thing to consider with this as well is that the AFL clubs have to release or give permission for these listed players to actually take part on the SANFL finals. If there is any doubt over their fitness levels, any post season surgery required and of course whether the AFL clubs are still participating in the AFL finals will of course determine whether or not these guys actually play.

I'm only going to list Glenelg through Westies as they are the 6 teams that will be or have a chance the make the final 5.

GLENELG:
Danny Meyer (Power)
Richard Douglas (Crows)
Josh Carr (Power)
James Sellar (Crows)
Brian Donnelly (Crows)
Tom Logan (Power)

CENTRAL:
Matthew Westhoff (Power)
Brad Symes (Crows)
Ricky Henderson (Crows)
Jonathon Giles (Power)
Jonathon Griffin (Crows)

STURT:
Brent Reilly (Crows)
Toby Thurstans (Power)
Brodie Martin (Crows)
Tom Lee (Crows)

EAGLES:
Nick Salter (Power)
Jarrhan Jacky (Crows)
Matthew Broadbent (Power)
Jared Petrenko (Crows)
Paul Stewart (Power)
Trent Hentschel (Crows)
Mitch Banner (Power)
Jarrad Redden (Power)
Glen Dawson (Power)
Robert Shirley (Crows)

NORTH:
Nick Gill (Crows)
Wade Thompson (Power)
Greg Gallman (Crows)
Daniel Stewart (Power)
Phil Davis (Crows)
Tony Armstrong (Crows)
Rory Sloan (Crows)

WEST:
Jason Davenport (Power)
Brad Moran (Crows)
Matthew Lobbe (Power)
Jesse Laurie (Power)
Matthew Martin (Power)
Hamish Hartlett (Power)
Michael Pettigrew (Power)

Correct, Thiele, he's played 3 games for us. Michael Pettigrew has played one, might play another 2

Also remember that a sudden loss of form will also add Dangerfield, Tippett, Robbie Gray, Dom Cassisi, Tyson Edwards and Jason Porplyzia ;)

It also includes Reserves games played, so I'm not sure of those numbers.

By the way, Robert Shirley has also qualified.

Might as well add Rutten

I think you will find Pettigrew may already be qualified for Westies now mate...

He played his first game for you guys in Waikerie and then back in the Power the next week, then was dropped but held back by the Power from playing SANFL as he was an emergency so that is game number 2 and with West having the bye this week and Michael not playing for the Power today, this week should be his 3rd game, thus qualifying him. Richard Douglas has now qualified for Glenelg without having played a single game in the Tigers yellow and black jumoer this year so far.

Thanks spelly, I knew I was missing an 'obvious' Eagles player, added Shirley to the list now...

YEs, no worries r&b, but of course it is all academic unless Westies make the finals of course, but if they do, you may possibly have some quality players to add to the side.

Thank you for not embarrassing us by listing Norwood players.

North's AFL listed players have played a grand total of one AFL game between them courtesy of Nick Gill's effort early in the season.

Out of the Sturt list, Reilly has only played 2 games for Sturt.

Yeah, but I think I recall him being witheld from SANFL duties for Sturt whilst being an emergency for the Crows and ended up not playing any game at all on that weekend, so that would count as a 3rd game thus making him eligable for the SANFL finals IIRC...

Thompson and Motlop have played for Port haven't they? Motlop definitely has.

I think that's a vital point people miss. Is it good to have AFL blokes come and go (Eagles), or is it better to have the AFL blokes stay all season (North). As for Glenelg's AFL blokes, apart from Meyer & Seller, we have only had 4 games of representation from Carr & Logan. Donnelly has been in the Ressies all year.

RR I think Thompson has played 1.

Yeah, Wade Thompson and Marlon Motlop have played about 5 games between them I think so that is about half a dozen total AFL games played from North listed players...

Whoops missed Motlop (that's how effective he has been for them and us!). I think Thompson only played pre-season games as he definately played for us in our Round 2 opening game against Centrals so I don't think he played a home and away AFL game?
