Rnd 15 - Sturt v Eagles @ House Brothers (Unley) Sat 11/7

The Double Blues cruised to a massive win over a hapless Westies in Waikerie, while the Eagles had a tough win over the Magpies in a classic encounter at Woodville Oval last week.

This should be a classic game and depending on the weather and conditions of Unley Oval, we could possibly be in for a goal feast on Saturday with Chambers at one end and Passador the other.

At this stage for me, Sturt perhaps a little too strong and will get up by about 4 goals.

For myself Sturt should have this game won.hanging my head in shame.

BUT after yesterday's game and if the majority of yesterday's side plays well anything is possible .
A functioning forward line like against Port could be a big help .If the mid field performs then that makes it easier for the forwards .And by this I mean getting the ruck taps and taking the ball from centre.BUT also closing down Sturts mid fielders like I watched the likes of fiacchi do against Port some very fine close in work there .
The biggest worry would be Full Back on Chambers IMHO.

GO U EAGLES !!!!

As a fellow Eagles member, I share your concern there Mickyj, especially considering usual Eagles full back Zac Heir was in the reserves at Woodville yesterday and the last time these sides met Big Chambo kicked 11

Should be the match of the round ... Eagles will be keen to atone for the poor showing earlier this year against the Double Blues.

Wouldn't be surprised to see the Eagles take this one.

Some factors to consider for this game - Eagles only 6 days to recover compared to Strut 7; Eagles will probably have heavy legs after their game on a soft oval (not sure what Waikerie Oval was like but would think it was firmer than Woodville); Eagles absorbed a lot of physical punishment from Port whereas Strut seemed to have a pretty soft game against West. These are purely observations that could, but hopefully not effect the Eags' performance. Strut suffered badly a few rounds earlier when they only had 5 days to recover. In the SANFL where the players have to work etc, a day or two less to recover is telling.
Having said that, I'll be very disappointed if we don't make up for that debacle against Strut earlier this year.

I don't think Sturt's break before the North game had anything to do with the result, if we faded in the last 1/4 and lost by a few goals then maybe, but not when you hardly give a whimper all game.
If your going to start making excuses for a "possible" loss 5 days before the game, at least show some sort of respect to the "possible" victor by spelling their name correctly instead of rehashing tired old cheap shots.
However, pygmy mentalities apart, I expect this to be very close, and hope to god Burton isn't playing. He seems to be very hungry and focused to get back to the Crows. Watch out anyone who will get in the way of that destiny.

Personally I would think Ron would have been happy with that hard game.As an audition so to speak of a finals game with body pressure from the likes of Centrals .

Last time Eagles failed against Sturt how many of yesterday's team actually were playing ? I bet a few in the Forward-line weren't.Perhaps even one or two who could match or equal 11 goals .

Two places that Eagles need to improve since their last encounter Midfield and backline .Fix those up with the added Forward Line presence this may well be closer than even I think .

9 - Allmond, Broadbent, Corbett, Dabrowski, P.Fiacchi, Hill, Jarrad, McGregor, Miles.

The other players yesterday were: Banner, Burton, Cheep, Cicolella, R.Fiacchi, Goldsworthy, McKenzie, Passador, Petrenko, Redden, Rimington, Salter.

I may have written that wrong spelly by matching chambers 11 I was talking about Passador and Salter .

Pretty certain Passador was not playing last game .

This is the Eagles last chance to stay in the race for a top 3 spot. Lose to Sturt and they'll be 1 and a half games behind 3rd spot and Sturt would still have a game in hand. As good as yesterday was in embedding us in the top 5 and putting Port out of the race, this week is even more important.

The Eagles have been up and down all season, but must bring their best to Unley Oval on Saturday. This is the classic "4 point" game.

The other 12 players did not play in the Sturt match but played yesterday. And in actual fact, Cheep also played in that match as well, so 10 players who played yesterday also played then.

Agree Aerie, it's the same for Sturt in that with a win, we can get a slight gap between 3rd and 4th trying to establish our double chance. Hopefully the weather will accomodate for a great game, this will be a cracker!

So half yesterday's team didnt play against Sturt at Oval ave.
And seeing I have started the Jay Cheep appreciation grand stand seating section ( see the port topic que CD to get a sign painted for this one and the Grocke fans Cd knows who i mean ;) ) .This was the game that saw Jay Cheep unfairly dropped back to the seconds in many of us fans eyes .This could turn out to be the game that Jay Cheep should or could turn it on .A new Cult hero at oval ave in the making and seeing he also was on telly tonight with the birdman.

Geez I drone on . ;)

Unfortunately $kurt will start white hot favourites to win. No match up for chambers apparent. Didn't west only just beat chambers by less than a goal?

Zac Hier will come in and do the job. Besides last game, he has generally done well on Chambers. It also depends on how much pressure our midfield puts on theirs. Last time it was non-existant.

You can borrow Millsy from the Bays if you like ... he's not doing anything this weekend. ;)

Yeah, well we fared worse last time - could only manage a draw against him! So, yes, Chambers on previous form should win.

I'd bring Zac back , but thinking left field maybe Salts on Chambers, Zac at centre half back and Kenny into the forward line?
