Eagles will be very hard to beat at Woodville Oval, but Port are full of confidence. Should be a good game.

I really like Port in this game, they are starting to build some momentum and i think the younger players will gain confidence from not only playing well but winning games.

Eagles are a bit patchy at the moment, they were awesome when they beat the Dogs but have lost games by big margins against teams you wouldn't expect.

I think this game will be a test of the Eagles mentality, if they respect Port and realise they are battling for a finals spot themselves they should win. If they think there better than they are and a certain top 5 team while seeing Port as the team thats only won 3 games all year they could be in trouble.

At this stage ill go Port by 17pts

Another good test for Eagles and Fuller , especially against a quick midfield like the Maggies have . Its a problem the Eagles have chose to ignore the last two years , and can be fatal when matched up to hard running , quick onballers ala BAYS , REDLEGS and STURT . Centrals is a great match up for us , after years and years of practice , playing one on one grinding footy , its no real suprise the games are always well fought out . Fullers gameplan gets blown away in recent times against attacking pace , hence why we have the type of losses we have in recent times . Not having all our senior players doesnt help , but all clubs have injuries , plus our best midfield would be almost the slowest in the league and apart from Petrenko [ Crows player anyway ] no ones real quick ! So whats the answer , well Fuller knows it , hence the effort to get Skipworth back . No recruiting of this kind of player , apart from Cheep , is hurting us bad and I fear us supporters will get a bit sick of being overrun by quick midfields before too long . Already not recruiting a back up ruckman of any ability is looking like a brain dead oversight , with Redden not ready yet , though I do have some time for Miles , hes just not a no. 1 at this level [ good no.2 or defender maybe ] . The small rover from South anyone ? Now that would be a start !

Did Powell play in the two's on the weekend? Any reports on how he went?

This is a huge game for the Eagles, and Port for that matter. If the Eagles win, I think it will end any chance Port has of making the finals. If Port win, they're still a faint chance, but it will be a big boost for Westies who would feel confident of overtaking the Eagles in the 5 with the Eagles coming up against Sturt and Central away, then North and the bye in the coming month.

While the effort was there on the weekend, we didn't have the depth of class that Glenelg had. The Eagles did a great job of keeping up with the bays - being there to tackle when needed etc., but lacked players that can win you a game and create opportunities by getting the ball first and doing something productive with it.

The Eagles need to build on that effort and hope they can filter some class players back into the side who will naturally improve the side, provided they maintain the effort to do the team things.

We also desperately need Dabrowski back in the side to give our midfielders a chance to get their hands on the ball first. Miles is doing a reasonable job, but besides him we are really struggling in ruck - hence moving Hier there in the last quarter.

Powelly did play in the reserves, played ok, but wouldnt expect he would be considered for league selection in the next couple of weeks, didnt rack up touches but the ones he had were quality as usual.
Trust the process.

Thanks Columbo. They'd love to have him back I'm sure, but like Passador, wouldn't want to bring him back to early. Need to make sure he's right. Would be tempting this week though, given it is such an important game.

Powelly is too good to risk IMO...think Pass has probably done enough in the last couple of ressies games to be well in the mix this week, seems to be alot more confident in the hammy now, hopefully it can hold up or that may be the end unfortunately.
Trust the process.

i think it is time for a Pass return .But would think the forward line will need a shuffle .
Plus would need the likes of dobber and Flash to come back in .

The Crows website also has revealed that forward Brett Burton will join his teammates for tonight's main training session.

Burton, who has recovered from a full knee reconstruction, was expected to play in the SANFL last weekend, but pulled out because of hamstring soreness.

He will line-up for the Eagles in the SANFL if he gets through Crows training unscathed.

I've been to Oval Avenue about four or five times since joining Centrals as a member, and only recall seeing a loss there once - by a straight kick in 2004.

Your question, however, lacks relevance. A Fortress is relevant to all opposition, not a select one.

How does Elizabeth Oval (over the last decade, and even all time) stack up as a Fortress compared with Oval Avenue, Mickyj?

The word fortress implies strength and being impregnable ; a loss this week and that word should be lost for the rest of this season ! :)

84 points to be precise and we lost by 15 this year. That's the first time we have last back to back games at Fortress Woodville this decade. Since 2000 have played there 9 times for a 5/4 win loss ratio in favour of the doggies.
We used to be good :-(
