Sam Mardling wins Rd 13 Coca-Cola Star Search Nomination

Sam Mardling from Port Adelaide Magpies Football Club has been named the Round 13 Coca-Cola Star Search nominee.

Mardling debuted at senior level in 2007 and played seven games, but two collarbone injuries forced him to the sidelines for the entire 2008 League season.

Last weekend was his fifth League match for the 2009 season.

The 18 year old small forward from Port District shared the team’s leading goalkicker mantle for the day with seasoned performer Jeremy Clayton.

His possessions included five kicks, five handballs and three goals in Port’s win over North Adelaide at Alberton Oval on Sunday.

Well done Sammy - not big stats but his forward line pressure was fantastic. He worked really hard to turn the ball over on the wing, put pressure on three North opponents in the one contest.
