He was solid but not BOG. Got lots of the ball but his kicking let him down on several occasions IMO. Same with Martin.
BOG was out of Sheedy, Coad, Bode and Cubillo but really hard to pick. Fittock and Wark also had excellent games. Maybe Sheedy with his 2 running goals was BOG...Rolls Royce...
I thought Central were smashed in the ruck contests and Mackenzie looked like he was digesting his KFC bucket lunch when he came on after half time. Griffen had his moments but I was surprised how many times he was beaten by Kurtze at stoppages. Schell being moved into the backline was a very defensive move and pleasing from an opposition supporter's perspective. From that time on there was no action up forward for the visitors. The Gowans were not sighted except for the obligatory dummy spit and "I'm gonna tell my mummy on you umpire" moment although I think J. Gowans went off in the first half with a leg injury of some sort. A pity, as I was looking forward to them having a bitch slap with each other again in the 2nd half. Loved Reilly's fair hit on ?? causing the claret to flow from ??'s forehead (sorry too much blood to recognise him). Then Dutschke got hit solidly and looked worse for wear. That was one of the most pleasing aspects of this game - not only were the skills great (who said they are worse this season??) but we smashed them physically (literally).
As for the ground condition it was quite good after the game when we walked across it. A 20m x 10m muddy patch in the centre as would be expected at this time of year, but certainly no bog. The rest of the surface was solid if not not a little slippery. A bit of hail fell immediately before the start of the match but apart from that there was only one short shower during the game.
That's the worst effort I have seen from a Centrals team in a decade. On more than one occasion Sturt players took marks just outside 50 and just stabbed it 30m up the ground to a player completely unattended, with the result an easy goal. I can't remember seeing that vs Centrals in recent history. It was also the quietest mob of Centrals suppoerters on record...not one U DOGS heard the entire day....pure bliss...That said, 4700+ was an excellent crowd given the conditions
By all accounts Chambers was narrowly beaten again today, with 8pts the final margin.
p.s. didn't see what happened but someone got booked in the second half. A Gowans was involved...did anyone see it?
