Got belted by Peel at Lathlain. 38 point loss but Perth never looked in the hunt, surprised the score was so close in the end. Peel should have won by 100 points they were that dominant around the ground.

I didn't stay for presentations but I hear he went off at the players. From another forum (excuse the caps, this is how the dude types every post):

There was a BIT of DEBATE about whether or Not JARS should have LAMBASTED THE PLAYING GROUP before the opposition at the Presentations. CERTAINLY NOT from a Past Player, now CEO of the yesterday’s Opposition.Their Main Arguement would have been, even if they did deserve a BAKE,you KEEP IT INHOUSE.

Obviously Perth are a little sensative to criticism like North!

He probably tried a different form of communication prior but it didn't work so he tried this one, it will be interesting to see how they respond to it.

I really expected Jars to make a huge difference at Perth with his charisma. They started the season well but have fallen away recently.
I think he's is only just realising the enormity of the task at hand in trying to lift a side that hasn't won a flag for 31 years or even made the finals in 11 years. He doesn't have anything like the list he had to work with at North Adelaide!

My tip is that he'll recruit heavily for next season and try to entice a few SANFL players across the border.

Well he tried it from game one at Perth, so not sure what he did at North first up.

We don't have a "other state league" forum plus I thought it may be of interest with the SANFL links.

Some of the players are frightened of him. Fear does not equal charisma

They started the season well

First game against Peel, squadered a 32 point lead into time on of the last quarter to lose.

but have fallen away recently.

The East Freo and South Freo games are a blip on an otherwise downward trajectory.

I think he's is only just realising the enormity of the task at hand in trying to lift a side that hasn't won a flag for 31 years or even made the finals in 11 years.

True. It's a very South Adelaide culture.

He doesn't have anything like the list he had to work with at North Adelaide!

Most 'experts' label it one of the most talented list in the comp

My tip is that he'll recruit heavily for next season and try to entice a few SANFL players across the border.

Perhaps a few ex North boys would been oh so keen to re-unite.

Agreed.

he he, he'd have more chance of getting players from 8 other clubs in the SANFL.
With their salary cap and his rep I doubt he'd get any.
Mind you I do miss his style of play, North have better results at this time than last year but I do miss those all out attacking great games of footy, I don't miss the 10 goal hammering's because we had no B plan though.

JARS has been great for the SANFL since his debut in the mid 80's.
His skill as a player, passion towards the SANFL competition and attacking instincts as a coach should not be forgotten.
He and his brother are 2 of the most skilled players to grace the SANFL EVER.
As an "interstate" coach in the WAFL, he'll always be up against it as are interstaters who try their luck in our competition, but I wish him well.

In fairness to Jars Perth have been crap for the best part of 30 years. The club has never recovered since it told 2 legends of the club (Barry Cable and Ian Miller)that they were not wanted in 1978 and the truth is the club has been nowhere ever since.

Up until the last couple of weeks, his quarter time and 3/4 time addresses have got a few laughs. Not recently.

A big test for him to change this culture.
