No as he wanted to leave !!!

The player who probably has replaced him in the side is Craig Evans so in my book im at peace with that decision !!!

IMHO I reckon it was win-win ... Sturt had kids ready to play senior footy, whilst Norwood weren't blessed with the same abundance, and I reckon both clubs probably benefitted from the move. (which I didn't think initially I must admit)

i think sturt missed him with his hardness around the ball last year especially when whiteman was out, as for this year some of those 'promoted kids' are playing well so it now would be a blessing for sturt to enable them to blood these young players, as for norwood i suppose he's just another midfielder but norwood need a big strong marking forward

Yeah, but didn't he only want to leave because he was told by Rick Macgowan that he wasn't in any of the league sides plannings and that he would be playing reserves footy ?

I'm pretty sure Tim stepped away from SANFL for a couple of weeks, played some games over on the Eyre Peninsula for Tumby Bay and then got tied up with Norwood...

I don't reckon he has been replaced by Craig Evans specifically, I think as mentioned earlier, the Double Blues younger brigade, stepping up from the 2's premiership side in 08, have taken on the mantle and spread the load amongst the likes of Jaensch, Martin, Bratton and to a lesser extent your recruit in Payne, who I know has been injured, and Evans on varying levels.

I agree that it has been a win win for both parties involved as Sturt have blooded the youungsters and are really showing promise and that they'll be around the mark and while Norwood have struggled a bit despite pre season expectation, Timmy has been in great form for the Legs.

Played only the one game Phil. But I think it helped recapture his passion for playing footy, maybe the spot of fishing he did whilst there and maybe a frank discussion with good mate Michael Curtis also convinced him to try again with another club.

timmy was told that he would have to earn his spot in the ones, not that he wouldnt be in the league side at all, and timmy thought he should be a walk up starter...

its clearly a win-win for both clubs as has been mentioned here...youngsters getting a go and making most of it at sturt, while the legs got their experienced midfielder and timmy got his chance to play league again straight up.

Spot on. I thought Norwood were taking a punt on him and that good footy was a thing of the past for Soccers. All Sturt supporters I know are glad to see him in great form... It's worked out best for both parties...

Timmy wasn't in Ricky's plans, specifically. But that is not to say he couldn't have been in Normans.

Have a look at Michael Bratton - has been a revelation this season when given a chance.

Timmy is a 200+ game player, with a Magarey and a premiership. His experience could have been invaluable to those yonger blokes who have now replaced him.

I would have rather kept him than see him go to Norwood, if there was an option.

A young kid who is a mate of my son, wears a Legs cap because Timmy coaches him at PAC.
I would rather the lad wear a bluebagger's cap.

I am proud to have known Tim since he was about 5 years of age. I have followed his league career, pleased to see his Magarey Medal and premiership win in 2002, and full of admiration for his 230+ game career at Sturt.

I have to admit to being surprised that Sturt didn't see a spot for him in 2008, but delighted when he decided to join Norwood to continue his career.

Tim is a quality young man who could never be anything but a plus to any club fortunate to retain him on their list, and I hope he's around for a few seasons yet .. certainly to 300 games.

i was sad to hear him go...but from what ive heard from his misses (mother is family friends) is what most is saying that he didnt fit into macgowans plans/vision etc....he was always my fav player to have a chat with at the end of a game. norwood are lucky to have him
