I think that's about the first time in 3 or 4 games that Chambo has been outscored by the Panthers.
My child is growing up without SANFL footy. It gives me the double blues.

South Adelaide make Richmond look like Manchester United.

The only thing I can say to all the South Port, West and Norwood critics is..

If you have played more than 10 SANFL games throughout your illoustrious career, then make the next post and fire away....

Thats the reason we go on forums.....'cos we never mounted to anything.

I actually feel sorry for South Adelaide... what I don't understand is that laws of average say that the Panthers should make the finals a couple of times a decade without even really trying that hard, so why is it that this club seems to perform poorly year after year and there never seems to be any light at the end of the tunnel. Even now, South Adelaide are 9th, 8th, 8th and 8th in the four grades, so that tells you there isn't much hope for the next 3-4 years either with no real young guns coming through.

That's in complete contrast to other sides, like Sturt, who has reserves and U-18s in the top five and looking good, so even as the league side fades as players leave or retire, there are top quality players waiting in the aisles to come in and do their job. What the hell is going on at South Adelaide? The reason other supporters should be disappointed is that South Adelaide are currently stopping the rest of us from seeing Port Adelaide get a spoon! How dare they...

Can someone who attends South AGMs let us know what has been going on in them the last few years?

Shocking game of football today.

To put Ben Warren in the Full back line in the last 1/4 really shows how desparate we have become.

To see a board member "walk out" 5 minutes into the last 1/4.......well, that said it all for me today!!!

I have seen amatuer sides play better than that today.....

I really have no answer anymore :(

Anyway, I know where you're coming from, but I think the criticisms have to be taken on board. For starters, are South supporters hammering the board over their decisions, direction and so on? The club was given a free ground and facilities, it has breached the salary cap several times without redemption and it has booming pokies income and yet the club is lying bottom? Why is it that you have other clubs in the league that can't rub two sheckles together, like Sturt, who can create decent sides?

I know Sturt languished at the bottom for many a season back in the 1990's, but that's the whole point, eventually the fans and administration rallied and turned it around and now the club has been in finals just about every year for 10+ years and that's having come from the lowest of the lows. I just don't see why South haven't been able to put in any sort of consistent performance in the league, making the finals year in, year out, for the last 50 years.

Again... its disappointing.

Two words - CULTURE & THE BOARD

Unfortunately I tend to agree with you. I think there is a culture that losing and poor performances are acceptable. I for one, think that's a real shame, as in reality, it does the league harm to have South near the bottom so often. I would love to see South in the finals year after year now and then, just like anyone else (well except Torrens and Norwood) and have a shot at the title. I don't know what can be done, almost need a takeover by a rich South supporter who brings in a decent coach who culls the team.

South may need to come last 2-3 years in a row and re-build properly... I know that's always said, but I mean a REAL culling of the team to remove the culture, even decent players, start a fresh a la Carman in 1995.

I think you would find they did that and appointed Cahill to clean it up but some people did not like that much.

He started with 4 wins for the year with a less talented list than this year.

I really am buggered if I can work it out but I don't see any light at the end of the tunnel for a long time the way it is going. :(

Some major decisions need to be undertaken at South and we need to get the right people into the club to run it properly currently the management of the SAFC reminds me of an epsiode of "Dad's Army" continiously on repeat....

I see little point in going to the meeting and giving hell to the management as I cant see it even remotley being taken seriously nor any action taken. A member of the Panthers Forum had a crack at getting onto the board and the numbers are clearly covered for the current board without to many problems. Every time they have sent out a members poll I have voted against it - having an away Guernsey and the name change and it makes no difference, the changes roll through easilly.

Its a huge vicious circle, yet if we could be in a position to invite the right people to come into the club to take the leadership of it, why would they even remotley want to come after the way that people like Jack Cahill were treated by the club? Who wants to come to a side entrenched in a losing culture and have to battle through layers of legalism to try and change it all?

Still, I will have a go at saying what I think needs to be done and could be done at the club to change things, I think that if you are prepared to knock the club as I am, then you should also be prepared to present options of how you think that the club can change to become successfull.

Firstly I do think that we need to do whatever it takes to get John Reid to take the Presidency of the SAFC when he retires from the Adelaide Football Club at the end of the year. Despite being sacked by South he has a massive amount of Passion for the Panthers and is a headkicker to boot, which is exactly what the club needs to be taken apart and put back together again. Reids experience in running the AFC clearly makes him a good choice to oversee an SANFL side.

We need to get some really passionate South Adelaide people onto the board begining with John Schneebichler whose experience as one of the best ever SAFC players coupled with his coaching experience gives him a good position to be in to make some of the hard calls about what South need to do moving forward.

Luke Darcy's Dad David Darcy, another ex SAFC coach is someone again who is a passionate Panther supporter who runs a successfull hotel group, if he could be convinced to take up a position at South we would gain another very valuable board member that would invest into the club rather than the reverse.

Kevin Morris ex West Adelaide Coach and SANFL consultant, is someone who I think has a case to be on the board, the review that he made of the club was quite cutting so I am told from someone who knew its full contents unlike the sanitised version made available to the members. I feel that Morris did an accurate job in highlighting the problems at the club and would be a good person for the club to turn toward to get the right action taken to correct those issues.

No doubt there are several more names people can mention, yet the emphasis being on passionate SAFC and SANFL people that have made it in the commerical world at what they do in business, not people who are an ex player of the club yet cannot show results in the business world to justify a place on the board as I feel is the current situation.

Then we come to the coaching position at South, the key hall mark of the SAFC game plan is basic skill errors that result in costly turnovers and goals kicked against the side. Clearly zoning and other AFL game plans are the current standard and future of the SANFL, yet I do feel there are different types of coaches and South really need a "Builder" coach, it could well be that this person gets the side to competitive in the five and another coach then takes over, yet at the current stage we need the right people coaching at South and I do feel that the Senior Coach needs to be someone who can prove that have actually taken an SANFL standard side and taken them to the next level, three names are there to my thoughts, those names being Phil Carman, Michael Nunan and Alan Stewart. South need to settle the coaching position down yet despite that fact there is no point continuing on with a coach that is not the right one for the club and I do feel a change needs to be made in this area.

Anyway those are a few of my thoughts, I encourage you to add your own if you have any ideas, as the club in its current form is an absolute basket case and the sooner the blowtorch is applied by the SAFC members with some ammunition in hand the better!

thought it was a pretty bad performance by both teams today, seems strange to say that about a team that's won by 12 goals but I thought Sturt only played a couple of good 1/4's of footy although I didn't get to see the whole game, last 1/4 was one of the worst I've ever seen.

Regardless of SAFC coach and board.........the one thing that I saw for the first time today was a South supporter yelling inuendo at his players and umpires (of course). And this occurred from the first bounce, before a score was on the board. I can understsand and sympathise with supporting a team that is uncompetitive (I've been there before) but I cant undertstand how yelling abuse at players is going to make them do any better,,,what's more this guy had a young lad sitting beside him and joining in. Poor form by this individual IMO

South were even more inept than Norwood last night who were worse than the Eagles the week before who were more deplorable than Port the week prior. God I've seen some rubbish standard games / teams lately!
