At Glenelg, last year's premier was soundly defeated by last year's premier

On a more serious note - did anyone else remark that the U18 guernseys all have player numbers on the front as well as the back? Obviously for the benefit of the lazy AFL scouts in the stands, peering at the game through subsidised binoculars. The SANFL has bent over one more degree in the backwards direction for that lesser Victorian league.

top comment that first one.

the second one has nothing to do with AFL scouts but you are not far off. They are on there so that when Champion Data codes the games for the AFL clubs they are able to identify the players from the front.

That sounds like a pretty pissweak reason for it though - considering they're doing league and AFL stats yet neither have the WAFL-style front numbering.

On a slightly side note, any particular reason WAFL clubs have their numbers on the front? It certainly isn't for Champion Data as they've been doing it for decades.

Did anyone else notice the first 16 goals of the match at the Bay were kicked with no behinds registered. It was 11 straight to the Bays and 5 straight to Sturt. Can't say i've seen that to many times.

Just a question on the U18 competition. I know that there is a rule that if you start in the Under 18 competition for Round 1 you can't be promoted until mid year or something. Does that rule also apply to the overage (U19) players as well?

No, overage players can go up and down as the club sees fit.
Here is a question what would happen if the some U18s were picked in the reserves. Has there been any penalties suggested if this is not followed by the clubs?

No, they are guidelines at this stage not rules. Therefore transgressors receive no penalty.
