Anyone or any threads listing possible/confirmed recruits for the Doggies this year?

If not, post em here! Otherwise, can someone post the link to the thread?

It's probably been said somewhere else but Centrals haven't confirmed any signings as yet and probably won't until early in the new year.

I think "pry" isn't the appropriate terminology mate, it's called logging on, veiwing, commenting and posting on public forums

Like every club, every year Harry, there is something called player movements...

Some players retire, some move on, some get told their not required and some get drafted thus leaving a few spare dollars in the salary cap for new recruits...

Centrals will be no different to the other clubs for season 2009. Luke McCabe, Nathan Steinberner and Luke Cowan have already retired so there will be some cap freed up there alone...

I don't think we will see Ryan Williams in the SANFL next year, unless given another chance with the Power, St. Kilda keen to recruit him.

I have heard Eddie Sansbury is settled into Victorian lifestyle, has a good job and a pretty good offer on the table from North Ballarat.

Alan Obst was delisted by the Kangaroos but has been given another opportunity to at least train with them again so could stay in Melbourne.

As for the other names, I would suggest that the only ones likely to be in a Dogs jumper next year would be Urie, N.Street and Savage.

Daniel Boyle also training with the Power again hoping to be relisted as a rookie again, otherwise may head home to Victoria I'd say.

Phil, I think you'd agree that they would have very little space freed up with those players. Steinberner hardly played, Cowan presumably wasn't a high cost player and if McCabe would be a middle-range cost at most.

Given that they won the Premiership, you would also think that some of their lower cost players would be getting a bit more as well, depending on contract times.

I'm not having a go, just to add some hopefully rational discussion.

Phil, Ryan Williams would be a loss to the Dogs. I was very impressed with his work-rate whenever I saw him against Westies.

If Savage is recruited, does that say something about Sibenaler's future?

Valid points r&b, but needless to say, they were still apart of the cap and even if between the 3 of them, they've freed up room for a couple of new recruits then so be it. Just because they didn't play much, doesn't mean they weren't on half decent money, it wouldn't have been known at the start of the year when the contract was negotiated that they would miss x amounts of games. There will be a couple of lads worthy of a pay rise for next season based on this years form, in particular young Brayden O'Hara.

You are right though, they wouldn't have been on as much as say a Thomas, O'Sullivan or Callinan perhaps would be. The club will of course do the right amount of juggling required to fit in a couple of new recruits if that is what they so wish. As for the Gowans boys retiring dash, you will have to wait until season 2010 for that, the boys are keen to go around 1 more to not only obtain SANFL life membership but go out on another high with their 8th Premiership medal and lead the Dogs into 10 GF's in row

As we all do "Bl##dy Gowans Twins" they are a credit to themselves and the CD football club

Williams will be a massive loss if he gets re-drafted but the club is fully aware of the excellent improvement he showed in the last 12 months and importance he played in ensuring they won another premiership. They will do everything in their power to convince him to stay if another AFL club doesn't give him a lifeline.

I think Savage would be looked at as that 3rd key defensive positional player. Sibenaler will go around again next year and will be invaluable at full back, but he is getting close to 30 and says his body is pulling up more sorer after every game and it has started to effect his business as a personal trainer.

There is a chance that Jeremy Aufderhiede will retire (it would be a great way to go out with a league premiership after only playing 3 senior games in the last 2 years, coming in for the finals series this year) so i think Savage would just be some key positional depth more than anything.

Roy may be keen to play Schelly up forward on a permanent basis next year, plus we still have the very versatile Daniel Haveleberg to come back from injury as well and he can play either end of the ground also. I think the Dogs strength has always been depth in the back lines so it's just continuing this I guess.

That they are Dash, that they are. Many people love to hate them but they are bloody fantastic to me...

They would have to go down in history as the "best ever" recruits to the club and possibly even the SANFL...

7 x Premierships each, B&F's, leading goalkickers, Fos Williams Medals, state gurnseys aplenty, Jack Oatey's..

Yes Phil. I might be wrong, but I thought the cap calculations were worked out on who actually played each week. I'm pretty sure that's right. If so, there's not much room to move at all.

I also agree about O'Hara. He looks terrific and won't be on minimum payments next contract.

As for Sibenaler, I think he'll struggle if Savage is recruited.

Fair enough, not exactly sure how it works so will leave it at that...

Brayden had a fabulous break out year and fittingly won the Best First Year Player award at the B&F Awards night last month. A great story of persistance, was playing great footy in the reserves for 2 or 3 years as a fairly young lad and was getting a little frustrated at lack of opportunity at league level. he almost walked out on Centrals to go back up to the barossa and play with his mates at Galwer Centrals. Stuck around and finally got his opportunity to go on and be a league premiership player and possible be drafted into the AFL.

As for Sibba, I don't know that I agree with you mate. I see him every week and although 'Evil' can have some shocking games and sometimes seem to have total brain fades, his value to the side to take the opposition players key forward is invaluable. He has proven to be a big game player as well taking the scalps of Nick Gill and Todd Grima in the last 2 grand Finals. I think if anything, recruiting Savage might be better for Yves. The pressure will be taken off him a bit more and he might actually become more valuable to the side.
