When in general conversation bayman, yes I do still refer to the grounds by their "original" names. The main reason being, I'll often find people saying "what oval, where's that !!??" Of course, when on air, I always make sure to refer to the grounds by their sponsorship names, if applicable.

Big Phil, does your radio station direct you to call the grounds by their sponsored names? If not, why would you do it on air if you don't off air?

No they don't Ash, not specifically. I do however, understannd the importance of sponsorship dollars in modern day football and I guess it just feels appropriate (sorry a sturtpeter quote) to speak of the grounds by their sponsored name, if applicable. I guess I'm just keen to do things right when on air because I'm grateful for the opportunity I was given this season and want to do what I feel is the right thing. As for calling the grounds by their original names off air, it is probably a force of habit thing and easy for others to understand when talking to them about footy grounds.
