The topic should be "Who is Centrals going to beat in the 2009 Grand Final". I think it will be Glenelg again.

the way they are going in another 15-20 years they could get past norwoods number of flags & then out after ports

Another flag next year and they would've matched Norwood's total flags since WWII...

They'll also be level with West Adelaide on 8 premierships as well I believe.

True but We need to start recruiting & blooding because We could be without The Twins, Sladey, Jezza, McCabe (obviously), Evil, Schelly, Swoopa, Richie The C, Wingnut & O'Hara AT LEAST for the start of 2010.

I think you will find recruiting will be very high this preseason as we know Roy said after the GF that we had to change our game plan to match the top 2 sides. So i would think that they will address our weaknessess and improve next year. We still have some very good kids coming through along with the young guys who played in the GF(unless they get drafted).

They can still win SANFL premierships as 40 year olds.

Norwood won most of their flags when the SANFL was equal to any other footy competition in Australia, at a time when there was dinkum competition.

What, THAT old chestnut again? That is irrelevant, all 9 clubs in the SANFL are still competing against each other, even if there is, in your opinion, a drop in the standard! Footy back in the 60's & 70's was crap, bad kicking, lack of fitness, the players would take a mark, stop, step back & just kick it forward. There didn't seem to be any method & the game was slower & more amateurish. PLUS, just to cap it off, it was played in BLACK & WHITE!

Yeah exactly, I always wondered why teams even had coaches back then.

True. In fact, you'd wonder why anyone bothered any more. Time to pack up the outdated SANFL and go home to watch the Cows and Smears on tele.

And we await a Norwood resurgence to provide Centrals with some dinkum competition.

Make sure your chair is comfy and you have enough food and water to see you through a nuclear holocost because you could be waiting a while lol  (but really :( )

You wish...

If anything, they are going to be stronger next year, as admitted by Roy Laird during the week...

Laird signed on for next year, Gowans boys, Buckets and Sladey all saying they will play on in 09.

Still have these players to come back into the side in 09, all committed to the club next year...

Slattery, Havelberg, Switala, Lawry, Hadden, Spurr, Griffin...

Plus plenty of youngsters coming through the system...

Not to mention the fact we have already been looking at quite a few quality recruits as well...

LOOK OUT FOR THE DOGGIES IN 2009

Cheers,

BP

And Centrals still couldn't win a match in 1964! Dunno about the 70's being crap though. I've got a few vids and there was pretty free flowing footy from back then. I think you are as guilty of selling the SANFL short as my Redleg bretheren here O Roman.

If things are so easy now, why can't your clubs win a flag? Seems tougher than ever for most clubs.
