The 2006 Port Adelaide Magpies' midfield is already shaping as the envy of the SANFL.

Joining Magarey Medallist Jeremy Clayton in the middle next season will be gifted former Essendon player Mark Alvey, aged 25.

The number 18 selection in the 1997 national draft played 45 matches for the Western Bulldogs before 14 appearances for the Bombers.

"He's a quality player who can average around 30 possessions a game," said Magpies Football Manager Bob Clayton.

Should go alright if he can stay out of the medical rooms. Had his best year in the AFL in 2002 averaging 17 disposals a match and kicking 18 goals. Did his knee in Round 3 the next year and was traded to the Bombers at the end of the year.

Hopefully can fill the void left by TB

Looks like an interesting pick up. Hard to say how he will go. But if he gets his body right and has a good run with injuries, then he'll probably be a decent pick up.
