2008 SANFL League GF Central v Glenelg

I know that the Prelim hasn't finished yet and anything could still happen, it looks like Glenelg have made it.

I can only see Central winning the GF, but after seeing Geelong losing the AFL GF, anything is Possible.

Dogs will have to be at their best to beat the side that won the prelim, Glenelg looked pretty bloody good.

Next week can't come quick enough!

Bays appear to have a lot of forward options, if the Dogs let the midfield run riot like Sturt did today the Bays will win easy, however Grand Finals are different games, Dogs well drilled at this game are always hard and tough at the player with the ball, think however at this stage as much as it hurts to say I reckon the Bays by 13 points

Grima's been a gun recently, what a fantastic recruit he's been, ultra impressive.
I wonder how different next week may turn out if the Dogs had got him?

I think Glenelg's forward line will have a much better day than last week and help them get over the line by 4 goals. Kirkby and Grima to kick a bag.

Hope this is not like 2006.

There we beat North in the qualifying final, beat the Eagles in the 2nd semi to go straight to the G.F
and then got walloped by the Eagles on the big day.

I think we are a better side than that this year, but we have to harder at the scrimmages to stop the Tigers
delivery into their forward line.

Dogs just :) I think......

What really impressed my about Glenelg today was their clean skills when in tight under pressure. It was light years ahead of what they produced against Central.

To beat the Bulldogs, skills under pressure is an absolute must and Glenelg showed that sharpness today.

What an absolute farce
Fancy playing one game for the year at AAMI staduim
Should be played at Adelaide Oval
The problem for several Glenelg players is they need a street directory to find the ground

I cant pick the winner
CD won last time and were very clean all day
GL looked underdone after the bye and had many players well down on form

I think GL has MArginaLly better individual players
I think the only obstacle to a GL win is will they sleep well the night b4 ?
CD will know what to do

This will be a classic match. Central are playing as well as they have all season at the moment and Glenelg, when they get it together, are the best team in the competition.

Sherwood back in was a huge boost to Glenelg. He is a rock in defence and compliments the flair of Rudolph and Hinge well. Grima has been sensational up forward. He will need help and today he had Kirkby kick a few goals. Glenelg have a lot of depth in the midfield, which is needed to win a premiership.

Central, well, the name speaks for itself. They have built an aura around them this decade and have been as dominant as any team in the history of the SANFL. The engine room of Slade and Thomas, complimented by the Gowans twins and a new breed such as Dutschke and co, their midfield continues to out bustle and out skill all challengers. Moving Schell to the forward line was as simple as flicking the switch, the team is more dangerous with him up forward.

I'm tipping Glenelg. Central 2008 are not as strong as the Central of 2007/2005/2001. Not to say Central won't win, as they managed to win flags in 2000, 2003 and 2004 without being the absolute standout side. But, this is a real opportunity for Glenelg and one which I think they will take.

Lets hope for a nice day, massive crowd and great game.

Adelaide Oval can't even cater successfully for a crowd of 10 thousand let alone 30 thousand.
(Apologies if things have changed this year as I haven't been there once in 2008, thank christ)

I wonder if the doggies greater experience at Footy park and GFs there will be an advantage. I would have thought so.

Glenelg played well today should be a good match. Can't wait.

I honestly thought Glenelg would go out in straight sets, i hope they used my previous posts as motivation.
Centrals are a great side & would be very hard to beat but they struggled to beat Sturt last time.
I'll have to go back to my early years prediction & pick Glenelg now to win the GF ( only on how they played today ) & beat Centrals.
Sturt were pathetic today & if Glenelg can sustain that sort of intensity & pressure for the whole game against the doggies they may well come home with the Thomas & Seymour Hill Cup.
Sorry you doggy supporters!

Now it makes sense NM. You have tipped just about every possible combination at some stage this season, I now know it is so you can fall back on "an earlier prediction" once we hit this stage of the season.

well if we played how we did today next week we'll be very hard to beat however if we play like we did last week central will win, i'm tipping the tigers by 4 or 5 goals

Central should be favourites and justifiably so. Masters of the Grand Final vs the newcomers. Bays also with a few injuries after today's game.

Nevertheless if the Bays can repeat today's performance then the Dogs will have their work cut out for them.

All logic says the dogs, but stranger things have happened. Logic has no place in footy anyway. Damn the torpedoes, full steam ahead: GO YOU BAYS!

I think that is the key (unfortunately) Centrals won last week with their greater finals experience and with a weeks rest will be primed. To have any chance we need to produce today again next week for four solid quarters anything less and the dogs will salute again.

They are a super outfit. We are not without a realistic chance but gee we will have to play awesome footy to beat them.

We could have two minor premier GFC's lose a grand final in two weekends to a team with the "We're a happy team" (yankee doodle dandy) club song!!
