Double Headers????

Postby TroyGFC » Wed Apr 12, 2006 5:22 pm

I was wondering what everyone else thinks of double header games.
I personally dont like them due to the fact I like watching the Bay reserves before the league game but prehaps crowd numbers may be bigger with 4 teams playing.

I think there pretty good. You get to see 2 sanfl matches at the same place on the same day. Also increases crowd numbers, which means more atmosphere.

Personally, I am not in favour of them.

Most of the crowd from the first game doesn't stay for the second game anyway, so you don't gain much in terms of atmosphere - supporters are generally not very interested in neutral games. And you don't get to see your team's reserves play, which causes major logistical issues for the support staff.

very intersting topic, i like to go and watch both the reserves and the league games, but in the finals where they have the league on the sunday and the reserves on the saturday then i would be in favour of it, but in the end i would love to watch both tiger teams in action.

Be great as long as my team's not involved as I coulg get to photograph two games instead of 1!
Hate to see North in one (which they are later in the year) and I dislike the finals set up with double headers.
They didn't work 20 years ago and don't work now IMHO.

If you're going to have one this would be the weekend to have it though with a lot of people leaving town for the holidays to lower costs of security, red coats, catering, etc.

I think it's a good initiative by the SANFL. Especially this weekend when three other teams have a bye and there is no other game in Adelaide. No harm in trying something different every now and then. I would be more inclined to get there early to watch another league game than getting there early to watch the Eagles ressies.

Pending on work, I may also go down (even though I don't go for any of the teams either).

We got the early game. Unsure of this concept..? Strange to go to the early game..? 1st timer. Don't know how the players take to it..? I think the first game would be more slippery than usual..? May see an upset..? I took the bays in an upset. But after last year I don't think the early form of the dogs would be an upset..?

But you are being dragged along by the other half are you not MK? Probably will see you there - good excuse to get a few beers under the belt and not have to worry about winning or losing!

Neither did most of the Glenelg supporters who were there - presentations had already started back at the club before the League GF was over!
