Caught snippets of the interview with Jack after the game and he said the side is a bit of a thin list. Basically got 23 players to pick from that are good enough to play league footy.
Today was another one of those games that they could have easily dropped their heads and got belted when the going go tough. Any win at Alberton is a damn good win.
Yes Parry is back next week and it's look out Westies at Noarlunga.

2/2 cant argue with that, watched a bit on the telly and South looked pretty good with their ball movement and hard work around the stoppages, spose time will tell if they are the real deal or not but their supporters have something to be happy with at the minute

What they don't have skillwise they make up for it with guts and determination.
Some of the errors in the first half were frightening, but we still managed to stay in it.
Great to see the players giving their all for the jumper - something that's been lacking in previous seasons.
If we can keep playing with this sort of passion and stay injury free (our depth is a major worry) we should keep giving the top teams a shake.

Port kicked 3 goals in time on to draw within 5 pts. Miller had a shot after the siren but missed.
Plenty of truth in above comments re south. Definitely a thin list. Cahill has made a huge difference, South are fierce at the contest and are excellent at the one percenters. Today I thought we were flogged in the ruck and Torney had minimal influence compared to last week, but this is a side that has a red hot go , and doesnt roll over when the going gets a bit tough. As a long time southie I was disgusted at some of our capitulations last year, and am very happy with the current group. We probably havent got the depth to go the distance but all we ask is that the boys have a fdrhg which is what we are seeing at the moment.

My general theory is a coach isn't everything to a side.
The only exception to that rule is John Cahill.
I'm not surprised South are playing like they are under Cahill. I also don't expect them to finish bottom for that very reason as well.

Clearly our game plan has changed for the better, yet what I am seeing at this stage is a determination to play four quarters. Especially in our first game against Glenelg when every time Glenelg drew level we met the challenge and kept going, which is a definate improvement of our side last year which I dont think had the same tenacity to play the game out.
Its way to early though to say whether we are "the real deal" or not as yet. Yet I am getting the feeling that we are at least giving it all for four quarters which is probably the quickest way for the club to get there!
Either way I am stoked to see the Panthers with two wins to start the season off, the AFL might have taken over football, yet nothing is ever going to replicate the feeling of seeing your SANFL side have a win when all the "experts" write you off!

Awesome win by the Panthers.
Just goes to show what guts and determination can do. This is a totally revamped South Adelaide unit from last year. Alot of the guys got their marching orders who were not dedicated to the club and jumper. The ones playing at the moment are a different group. They have the desire to succeed.
Cahill has given them belief. In the club and in themselves.
Early days yet. Easy to get excited and carried away but there is a great feeling at South at the moment. All the critics and various people on FOOTYSA have written off South in 2008. I always said they will suprise people this year. Im trying to keep a lid on things but man, it does feel goooooooood......especially beating the Magpies at Alberton.

South today were awesome and tenacious.
Port made the same mistake as the Bays, they did not rate South at all before the game.
I think that there are some really good things happening at South under Jack and Michael Taylor.
Today South had the master coach and Port had the apprentice.
Any other sides out there who under estimate the Panthers in 2008 will be making a big mistake.
These guys are prepared to have a red hot go regardless of any big name opposition.

I don't think we made a mistake of under-estimation.
The mistakes were all to do with execution and decision-making on the field.
South made less errors, used it better and kicked straighter.
Port can and will play heaps better than they did today. How much better can South play?

If Harry Miller slotted the goal would you have said that?? Great win by South and they are below my DB's on the table. But c'mon you are talking like you kicked port of the park (Even though they did get closer than they perhaps should have)
