Really rate this lad, decent loss for the Bays

Agsy himself wound admit he’s done. Gave everything to club

Good on him taking a step down getting easy $$$ by playing less demanding community footy, especially when it comes to training and the lack of depth in every team.

St Kilda look like they'll be offering Hayes a contract.

To play VFL with a "promise" to be elevated mid-season....

Well even a rookie contract is a lot more than what you would get playing in the SANFL But is it worth languishing in the VFL ( which may not even play if there is still a lot of covid) on the chance to get a shot in the so called big time. On top of that having to live in a hugh city like Melbourne instead of cosy little Adelaide. Pros and Cons. Mainly Cons in my book, but I am an Eagles supporter

Good runner. Hopefully has tidied up his kicking since his last stint here.

I'd love him to return to the Eagles but that is from the perspective of an eagles supporter.

The reality is that this is his one and only shot at playing AFL so if I was him I'd take it. No doubt having his brother over there as support (and as a place to crash in the immediate term) will be helpful for him settling into a new city. I hope it works out for him.

Should he leave the Eagles then Ballenden will probably be viewed as taking on the role Hayes played for us as well as providing an opportunity for some other, younger talls who might not have got a game in the seniors with him still around (like Lukac).

Yes a fair bit would have to go wrong for Hayes to not get a contract - St Kilda have 2 spots left on their list and Hayes is their only train-on player, so they would likely select Hayes and still leave one spot available for the mid-season draft.

Tsitas is less likely if basing purely on Gold Coast's situation - only 1 spot left and they have Nathan Freeman from Frankston along with Tsitas as train-on players.

Big Seb Guilhaus named in Eagles side to play in Darwin. A few kids in the side as well.

Pre-game write-up on the NT AFL website....

"NTFL coach Chris Baksh has called Saturday night's representative match against SANFL premiers Woodville-West Torrens a showcase of the Territory game and WWT rival Jade Sheedy an opportunity to put some important structures into place.

The SANFL premiers are shooting at a third successive flag and the Territory a fifth successive win over SANFL sides, which has all the ingredients for a genuine representative clash.

Baksh led the Territory Buffaloes to a win over Glenelg in last year's fixture and knows the importance of this match in terms of pride and strengthening the Territory's football pedigree.

"They're (WWT) always going to be a big challenge coming from the SANFL, but it provides an opportunity for our boys to showcase our league and what representative football means to them,'' Baksh told the AFLNT website.

"It's unfortunate we can only fit 24 into the side, but with our captain Braedon McLean leading a strong group with players in Jarrod Stokes, Abe Ankers, Brodie Newman, Ben Archard in the ruck, Jackson Calder up forward and Nick Yarran and Liam Holt-Fitz around the goals we're right to go.''

"We're not as tall as we'd like to be, but I've got a great mix of players who can play quick, fast footy on the outside and use the ball really well.''

Woodville-West Torrens counterpart Jade Sheedy expects plenty of leg speed an quick ball movement in line with Territory football's offensive style of game.

Already a two-time premiership coach since joining the Eagles in 2020, Sheedy's playing resume includes the 2002 Magarey Medal he won in a tie with then Sturt teammate Tim Weatherald in the club's premiership year.

Sheedy views the trek north as twofold _ implementing team structures and getting out of Adelaide to bond as a team.

"We want to have a bit of fun and take the game on as well, so we're bringing up a pretty young squad with a lot of players included who haven't played league footy,'' he said.

"It's why we want to give them a taste against what will be a good representative side from the NT, with a mix of players who have played a lot of league and AFL footy.

"Troy Menzel (Carlton and Adelaide) and Riley Knight (Adelaide) will be among them and Joey Sinor, our two-time best and fairest winner and our vice-captain also coming up.''

Sheedy's Eagles are poised to snatch a third successive SANFL senior flag, a process he says carries on from the 2021 grand final win over Glenelg, when the focus was on being better than they were the year before."

A pity Centrals couldn’t get big Seb back

Guessing he was never going to come to us considering the perceived treatment of his little mate.

From what I can tell, yes.
Has hardly missed a training session this year but a dose of 'rona slowed him down a bit over Christmas.
Joined in with some extra running with the younger lads after training officially finished the other night.
Super fit but not footy fit as yet.

Something about the SANFL being rigged to stop the Eagles and their small supporter base getting into a Grand Final.
That' aged well since he left!
PS It was 2018. ;)
