Davis is about as popular as a pork chop at a bar mitzvah down at Noarlunga.
Anyone who can afford him, and of course the clearance fee ...knock yourself out!

Goldsack and his partner dabble in the wine industry I believe so perhaps Wolf is just helping them out ;)

A question..... Does the thing that used to be called the Salary cap still exist...?

The salary cup does exist (except for Norwood)
Unbelievable how they continue to recruit players!!

No wonder my club is at the bottom.
We lose 3 players to the AFL and are running on a reduced salary cap.

To be fair thats not the reason your club is bottom. Your club is in financial difficulty so the SANFL imposed a reduction in Salary Cap. Could be worse , your club could continue and eventually fold.

I think any club should be compensated if they lose players during the year to the AFL.
I would think there are a few clubs (not just West) that are treading a fine line financially.

Why just the middle of the year . Why are they no longer compensated as previously for having players drafted . Every club gets a flat fee . Thats real fair.

No flat fee. Goes into a pool and is divided by the 8 clubs.

Norwood have recruited Johnston (North), McKenzie (Nth Melb), Talia (Swans), Hamilton (WB reserves) and Barry in the last 3 years IIRC - other ex-AFL players on our list were Norwood boys to begin with (Shelton, Grigg, Panos etc). We’ve lost a lot of well paid premiership players in that time too with more to come. My club has done plenty of stupid things over the years, but given the size of the target on their backs at West Lakes surely we wouldn’t be stupid enough to flout the cap??

You can play the victim card all you like, but your problems aren’t any other clubs doing .. The Bays could have done the same given their perilous financial state in recent times but instead they dug in and turned it around. Good example for all clubs.

Was 30K. Not sure if it is increasing this year.

I have no idea why it is done this way.

Majority of clubs voted for it I believe. Have never understood how it could be a good thing to de-incentivize player development (thankfully I think all clubs still perform well in that area in search of future league standard players)

The SANFL imposed one on Norwood too.
