A lot of kids in both sides and a lot of poor skill execution from both teams attributing to the poor standard...

The second started off with an early goal to Roosters recruit Lewis Johnston, before being answered immediately back by with a second impressive goal to Eagles utility Hick Hayes.

Newly appointed Legs Co-Captain Jace Bode found himself drifting down the field to become the second defender to kick a major for the home side, joining Levicki's opening term goal.

The lead chopped and changed in the opening ten minutes before the Redlegs slotted back-to-back goals, including an impressive long set shot by Johnston, for his second of the night.

The next ten minutes of play saw the ball move back and forth between the two sides' fifty metre arcs with Johnstons second major giving the home side a slender 4 point lead they took into the main change.

Eagles - N.O'Brien 24, M.Appleton 17, T.Whittlesea 17, N.Hayes 16, J.Sinor 14, J.Boyd 13

The third term started at as a real arm wrestle, taking five and a half minutes for the first major to be kicked. Impressive young Indigenous talent Nick Yarran pounced on a defensive error from the Redlegs to kick his first on the night.

The Legs then answered back with four majors in succession with goals to Persinos, Cachia and an impressive second goals to youngsters Brayden Denmead and Peter Bampton.

Against the flow of play, ill-discipline from Jaryd Cachia allowed the Eagles to peg one back with a second, from the goal square following back-to-back 25m penalties, to youngster Jack Gaffney.

The home side showed more ascendency in the third term, taking control and extended their lead to 21 points going into the final change.

Our second win in two pre-seasons and one full season! And if my memory serves me correctly, double the margin of our other win. And the reigning premiers* too.

*well they wore the same jumpers at least but probably missing 10 players.

FULL TIME @ COOPERS STADIUM

League - Final Scores:

Norwood - 16.7 = 103

Eagles - 9.12 = 66

Redlegs win by 37 points

Goal Kickers:

Norwood - L.Johnston 3, B.Denmead, P.Bampton 2, B.Dawe, P.Leviki, J.Bode, P.Persinos, J.Cachia, S.Phillips, A.Wilson, B.Jefferies, D.Ferreria 1

Eagles - J.Hayes, J.Gaffney 2, A.Poole, J.Redden, M.Appleton, N.Yarran, N.O'Brien 1

Leading Stats Winners:

Norwood - J.Cachia 24, P.Bampton 21, P.Levicki 21, K.Roocke 21, L.Pascoe 20, P.Persinos 16, D.Ferreria 15

Eagles - N.O'Brien 30, N.Hayes 26, C.Hall 23, J.Booyd 22, A.Poole 20, M.Appleton 19, J.Petrenko 16

After the Eagles kicked the opening goal of the term though Essendon recruit Nick O'Brien, the home side responded with 3 goals within five minutes, including a third to Johnston and firsts for Wilson and Jefferies.

Extending their lead to a game high 32 points at the 11 minute mark, the home side took their foot off the pedal slightly, cruising to a comfortable 5 goal win in their last trial game for the summer.

The remaining 15 minutes of the contest was somewhat of a stale mate with skill level dropping away and the intensity at the contest before young Davin Ferreria kicked an impressive long goal just into time on.

While the Redlegs were victorious to the tune of 37 points, both coaches would have had elements of their respective performances they were both impressed and disappointed in.

Westies had a lot out. North had a few not playing too. North just used 21 players and kept to 50
interchange. West used about 25 players and unlimited intuntercha.

North actually seemed to be in control of the game but missed a lot of gettable goals and a few sitters.

North's rucks looked excellent, defence and on ballers were good but other than Harvey nothing up forward and Harvey can't kick. And most of the players who didn't play were on ballers like Shannon and Thiele so I don't know if there are going to be any forwards coming through.

Having got a lot of injured players back on the park North should be better than last year but they wouldn't have to ve very good for that to happen.

As reigning premiers West don't have to prove a thing at this time of year so for them it was just a trial.

You seem to be in the minority. Most North people I've spoke to blame the club and have no ill feelings towards Lewis

Re the question about the low scoring reserves match Eagles Vs Redlegs. Match due to start at 4.55 pm but rescheduled and started at 5.30 pm. Don't know why there was a change. Maybe the heat. First two quarters went for 25 mins and last two quarters for 18 mins. Shocking match to watch. Stacking the backlines, unadventurous play and chip, chip across the ground killed it. Only when the Legs decided to kick long and attack down the middle of the ground in the last quarter did it enthuse any interest.
