Enough cherry picking. Port Vs Norwood on a Friday night in inclement weather is clearly a better result for the true, long term heavyweights of this competition.

I would have thought a night game, at THE HOME OF NIGHT FOOTY, between Norwood & Port, would have drawn a larger crowd than it did.

Maybe when we played Central it was dole week and against Port it wasn't??

Was it "tool bag" week or "piss poor attempted comedian week" when you went? You'd hope Norwood supporters would go regardless.

Considering night games historically have increased crowd attendances i would say its extremly surprising Norwood and Port on a Friday night couldnt get a bigger crowd than a Sunday afternoon Centrals game.

i also thought it looked 7,000

it was freezing and rainy-definately kept a few away

if the SANFL were really interested in big crowds u would think they would schedule saturday night games at the parade

as for the flare it provided a bit of entertainment, all good.

im a big fan of doggies supporters with their flares, chants and carry on. all good fun that creates a bit of atmosphere.

Thanks, Phil. Surprised to see no outrage, not even mock.

Is that why you're so obsessed with bagging us, Topsy? Feeling persecuted over the past decade or so?

I would have thought the lighting of a flare would have been a discussion point...

Dissapointing crowd number i was expecting around 10,000 so much for the TRADITIONAL rivals what happened to ther days of standing in the outer with ya oilskins on slurping down a cold tinnie or two of golden amber in the teeming rain we really have become soft.

Seriously all you Dogs fans can't be that insecure about your standing in footy can you? You are as big as any club in the competition if not the biggest, no need for small man syndrome.

No excuse, aussie rules footy is a winter sport, you've got to expect that type of weather for a night game in late July.

Some of you Dogs fans seem to get your noses out of joint when some posters label Port v Norwood as the biggest rivalry, and bang on about the tradition .. I remember the good old days well and still think there's nothing better than Footy in the middle of winter, you obviously do too, so that makes 2 of us.

If you think however that the weather doesn't affect a decent percentage of the elderly, the Gen Y's, or those that can go and support their local AFL team on a weekend then I reckon you're kidding yourself.

They are challenges faced by all clubs.
