i guess it goes back to the debate about whether you pick a side to honour the best players in their respective positons or you pick a side with balance/chemistry etc to win the game ahead.

As far as small forwards go he would be in the best few in the SANFL but if your picking a side to win a game i would rather go with an Eddie Sansbury who can be used as a small forward/midfielder/running defender or a gun midfielder who can rest in the foward lines.

it makes it hard to disagree with you when your right....... :o

Bored at home so if the state squad selected was to play tomorrow and all players were fit this is the team i would go with (bear in mind i have picked players to win the game meaning some players are picked on form etc Batsanis, and other picked on experience ability to step up in the big game ala P.Thomas. It is a 4 man bench right.

F: T.McIntyre M.Wundke J.Clayton
HF: L.Ryswyk R.Kirkby N.Liddle
C: N.Batsanis J.Allan J.Sheedy
HB: P.Thomas T.Collier E.Sansbury
B: A.Georgiou R.Ferguson B.Zorzi
R: J.Mikeljohn T.Allen J.Boyd

INT: C.Parry, L.Jericho, J.Schiller, L.Jarrad

Bench was real hard to select out of the players available

McIntyre CHF  has he grown a couple of feet after a pre season at West Lakes?

Also I would start Liddle on the ball over Boyd.

Sheedy not in squad anymore and Fergy certaintly wont play Full Back (probably wont be in team now that Collier has been selected). Grieger should be at full back.

Otherwise not a bad attempt.

A bit of a worry that only 8 of the players WHUFC has selected are originally SA born (not sure on McIntyre so may be 9).

Has been the case for many years. Possibly a better percentage of South Aussies in that team than some teams in the past.

I just hope Eagles players don't get injured. Otherwise could not care less about the "State" game.

What odds on Jimmy for 50 possesions, especially if the game is tightish and spends most of the game in the middle.

Possibly - looked on track last week but was knackered by 3/4 time due to us losing 2 midfielders by halftime so our rotations were very limited and he did spend a fiar percentage of the second half resting up forward - partly due also to Sturt runnign two taggers on him which taking those things into account limited him to a reduced output after half time. I will be happy if he he gets his 35 plus average.
