Nothing wrong with that
Teams earn the right to play on Anzac Day
Should never be an annual PA V NW thingamajib
I get pissed off seeing CO V ES in the AFL every year
Is this just a money grab ?
Why cant WB play ML every year ?
Anyways, the AFL should do what the SANFL do with the Grand Finalists
Its the fairest system
The criteria should never be which teams draw the biggest crowds
PS
SK to play an Anzac day game in NZ next season ?
Bit differant Mal, No one wanted to play on ANZAC day in the AFL, Essendon and Collingwood had the balls to get it up and running just like South did with Good Friday so they should keep it.
North Melbourne got Friday night football up and going, now they hardly get one while Collingwood and Essendon seem to have a mortgage on it. It's got nothing to do with who started what in the AFL, it's just what gets the most viewers on TV and the biggest crowd. The AFL is selling it's soul to maximise the numbers. Let's hope the SANFL doesn't go down the same path and keeps things fair for all clubs while giving everyone something they can call their own niche.

Didn't see her. Was she the one in the Central jumper wearing # 11

Oh, good one, I don't think that has been used before![]()
Nah, number 11 was the one out there in the winning side

Not sure about that Big Phil. I heard her sing at the Logies recently and she was terrible. Almost as bad as Meatloaf at last years's AFL Grand Final.

Would have been better than what was played yesterday, surely?

Yes mate true he was, it seems like we can only beat you in Grand Finals these days.

Norwood's "problem" is that it is a team that draws crowds, day or night. So the league and many of the clubs all want Norwood playing at times and places that suit everyone else. So as PhilH pointed out, playing Norwood and Port on Anzac Day is seen as a waste of a crowd when you might only get 2,000 more. (4,700 the other week vs 6600 in 2010).
In my book, if you win the flag you earn the right to call yourself Premiers for a year. It's carp to say anyone éarns the right' to play on Anzac Day. They only earn a scheduling preference from the league to play on April 25.
Why not have a GF re-match scheduled in round one?

Funny I didn't see any complaints from you in last years ANZAC day thread about it not being Port you were playing or that it was the Grand Finalists from the previous year. In fact you were very much looking forward to the game...
"Being a grand final re-match and on ANZAC Day, all the ingredients are there for another classic encounter."

So which is it? You had no problem with it being the Grand Finalists last year, but this year you have a problem? Make up your mind.

What sometimes i think is forgetton when it comes to Central following is that generally away attendances wont be huge, you have to remember for a majority of Central supporters who live in the Northern suburbs away trips are generally at least 30 minutes away and at times as far as an 1 hour plus to say Noarlunga, then take into account alot of Dogs supporters are also from the barossa and your looking at fairly big travelling distances.
This also takes its toll on Central home games when away supporters are expected to generally travel 30 minutes plus to watch their side in games they generally have loss.
The supporters and interest are there as proven by the fact you can get 35K + to GF's involving the Dogs its just getting them there every week thats the issue.

A full 30 minutes away? WOW!
Mate, anyone who lives in Adelaide can never, ever use traffic or travel distance as any type of excuse. Heading to play South away merely means leaving 30 whole minutes earlier than it would if you were playing West, Sturt or Glenelg away. With the express way Alberton is about 20 minutes from Elizabeth.
It isnt the travel that keeps people away from Elizabeth at Doggies home games. Be it warranted or otherwise it is the reputation Elizabeth has built up over the years. Not the travel time.
