All I know is my that side Claremont thumped West Adelaide.

Suck on it!!!!!

At least one club takes it seriously
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Let that be a lesson to you Sturt. You don't beat Glenelg 3 times in a row in Grand Finals and get away with it.

Your club decided to play in it, they were completely embarrased in it, we all laughed at it, end of story!

Personally I don't think supporters from other clubs that refuse to participate in it have a leg to stand on as they were too chicken to put their pride on the line.

the SANFL as a whole competition should be laughed at as their best sides don't want be embarrassed on a national stage

LOL

Why because the SANFL clubs consider their own league and the SANFL premiership as there number 1 priority rather than some mickey mouse comp thats has as much interest in it as a central vs eagles ANZAC Day game. ;)

Please refer to foxtel cup 2011, for all applicable responses to the above misguided view.

It's been a fantastic success for westies the last couple of years.
I wish Norwood had participated this year though, their forms too good thus far.

When you start something new you have to create tradition and prestige. It its like Manchester United refusing to play the UEAFA Champions League because it is going to damage their chances of winning the Premier League

The Premiership chances of a SANFL club can be just as severely damaged by the semi professional nature of the competition because players have to supplement their income with other jobs.

Josh Thewlis is currently out for 8 or so weeks due to a work injury, Jade Sheedy has missed footy due to work injuries in the past. Jacob Crate has not played league footy since 2010 due to injury off the football field. I'm sure every club has players in a similar boat.

With the best clubs in the country refusing to play it will continue to be a laughing stock because other clubs prepared to put it on the line will be out of their depth.

If Foxtel and the AFL were serious about the 2nd tier comps, then they would just show a game each week from each league instead of making up a competition that doesn't make any sense.

I look at this competition as a chance to see how SANFL teams compete against other leagues.

It gives an insight into where the various leagues stand against one another. I wish Sturt had competed when they had the chance, as last year it could have provided a boost at times (easy win over whoever) when confidence was needed going into the next SANFL game.

If you don't go in it, you can't say you're better than this team or that team. I'd like to see Centrals play a full-on game against Claremont, maybe Centrals are crap in comparison, maybe they're a league above, we'll never know as it stands, which is disappointing for neutrals who are interested in both leagues.

Rubbish - West were a very poor advert for the SANFL!

This is the problem... we don't get to find out because too many clubs turn down the opportunity to compete.

FWIW, I agree with GCR, I think Claremont would belt most SANFL teams.

Until Claremont is playing for an sanfl premiership, I couldn't give a rats not knowing if Centrals is a ten goal better or worse side than them, or a tassie, Qld or NSW team. Just as it hasnt been of interest in the last forty years for me.
I wonder how many people know who won last year, how the SANFL teams finished and what "leagues" we were potentially better than.

And as long as creating the best chance of winning a SANFL flag means my club isn't up and about in April, it's kind of pointless even having a dip. Half arsed efforts don't end well.

Wouldn't mind the Eagles being involved in the Foxtel Cup at the moment! Couldn't do any worse!

Did I miss something weren't these games supposed to be shown on foxtel.

Would have loved to have seen Claremont kick the crap out of Westies
2017, 2019 & 2020 PREMIERS
RICHMOND, RICHMOND, RICHMOND.

Obviously... but there are some of us who are interested.

In the end if the $$$ were right, Centrals and others would be in it. It's nothing to do with workload, commitment to the SANFL premiership and all that crap, $$$ would bring the teams in, they just can't be bothered for the money on offer.

Every man has his price but to say those other factors have nothing to do with it is a bit of a stretch.
