Whatever the reason is, at least Sturt supporters are dillisional enough to take comfort i tha fact they left is a good enough reason to justify why that are no longer taken seriously in the SANFL.

**** off knob. Nowhere near broke.
And speaking of a club with no future and can't be taken seriously, how the hell have you survived with your pitiful, embarrassing lack of success for how long?????? 47 years after you achieve nothing this year, like every other year

Through a bit or resiliance - supporter and management that have toughed it through - plenty of work to go yet, but would much rather be part of a club with our outlook that is on the way up, that be on your crew that is dying and will soon have to either relocate the Mt Barker or die.

so without the premier paying for you lease, where would you be? you have a good development area but you dont want to do anything with it.

Southee - I don;t think anyone with genuine SANFL links would deprive your club of any onfield success.

It seems that the majority of sturt supporters on this thread are wishing your club the very best.

I assume by your comments that you are totally disassociating yourself from any comment made from Bunton on this thread and wish he would not make such statements ?

Yet if the State Government offered Sturt the same deal at Mt Barker would it even remotley be considered by the club?

The difference is that South were happy enough to make the move, sell up St Marys and make the new future down South. How prepared are Sturt to pull out of the Unley area and relocated to Mt Barker? Its fairly likely there would be enough members opposed to it to make sure that it never happened.

Hence what South do and what Sturt haven't done is likely a moot point anyway. If you are actually fair dinkum about moving to Mt Barker go approach the State Government - they want to relocate the existing oval anyway, what better time than to go and make it happen.

Simple game to me...

I thought Sturt tried hard but made crucial errors at the wrong time or failed to capitalise when on top...

While South were better drilled and showed better judgement...

Good win.

If they make the finals, I'll actually go and support them.

I truly think that the "leap of faith" to Mount Barker would be a fantastic move for Sturt. It's a rapidly growing area with a bucketload more people moving there in the next 10 to 15 years. Young people have babies & they are your future. The same reason why We have embraced The Playford Alive project (as opposed to The Alan Parsons project ;) )

Why do you go on about Mt Barker constantly .South had no choice but to move otherwise they wouldn't be here today. Sturt will be staying at Unley for the long term so are you OK if we approach the Govt for some help still ?

nothing wrong with getting money from the government. The government owns your oval, don't they? Surely you get some money from local govt. & council from time to time for renovations, maintenance etc?

I am referring to State Govt but Sturt have had some huge barriers in their way from the Council since their return however it looks as though now the Unley Council is in support of the club. Things will start to move along with the Oval etcin the future but when that is I am not certain. When Sturt sign the lease for the oval it will be a long term one around 20 years which with the option for another 20 .

Let's move to Mt Barker, having to drive there will give opposition supporters something else to whinge about.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Iám with ya DOC great post, sorry Bunton you're passion for South may be admirable but your comments on this site are out of order!

Vitally important for SAFC to re-sign any and all players coming out of contract, to keep this playing list together (in spite of obvious AFL attacks) plus further development of some talent which exists in the ressies and with some selective recruiting we can all see a really exciting and ultimately successful future for the club. Not only good for SAFC but a great boost for the SANFL comp.

Either way there will be a team up there one day. With the population growth a new side up there would be great and eliminate the bye

The SANFL has wasted their energy to do feasability studies on a side from Darwin entering the comp yet the pot of gold is right under their noses

So bonding with Playford was a real Turn Of A Friendly Card? I'd still feel a lot safer up that way if there was an Eye In The Sky. Yet with all the recent premierships, the Dogs sure do have some Tales Of Mystery And Imagination to tell.

How seriously did the sanfl look at Darwin? Not at all. The sanfl missed the boat on grabbing the Thunder that's for sure.
