My comment about Kamahl was meant to be humourous but if you blokes want a serious debate then indigenous is defined as a group sharing a cultures from a specified place or region.

So I'm indigenous - I am a doggies supporter (my shared culture) and the sacred site of our culture is Elizabeth Oval :)

To recognise the part indigenous people play in our game? Whilst you'd hope that everyone's treated equally and the colour of someone's skin shouldn't make a difference in this day and age, I think it is good and a positive week for footy and in general to have a round dedicated to the indigenous. I'm sure there is a long way to go, but footy has become a great medium to showcase the talents of indigenous players and highlight the need for equality in our society.

I thought Gilbert McAdam's words in this interview were fantastic and shed a bit of light on how far we've come:

From Wikipedia:
Indigenous peoples are ethnic groups who are native to a land or region, especially before the arrival and intrusion of a foreign and possibly dominating culture. They are a group of people whose members share a cultural identity that has been shaped by their geographical region. A variety of names are used in various countries to identify such groups of people, but they generally are regarded as the "original inhabitants" of a territory or region. Their right to self-determination may be materially affected by the later-arriving ethnic groups.

Which doesn't qualify him so I'm not sure why he has been mentioned.

If you are going to name players who have " indigenous heritage" then maybe we should name Wedgie as a candidate for trainer.

Naley and I are qualified, indigenous = indigenous descent.
It has nothing to do with skin colour or percentages of certain bloodlines.

Excellent, tribal dance off at the Taj Sunday arvo.

Is that a serious question?

Isn't every round other than this one "white fella round"?

no because every person from every culture is playing, not 1 segregated group in particular.

My grandmother tells a story about my great grandfather meeting up with Dan Kelly, supposedly dead, in Adelaide in the 1930s, or some such.
Maybe he stole a horse to get here....
