Sorry to get political.
Wedgie wrote:Shame on you John Olsen for cleaning up the bankrupt mess the labor government left.

Not necessarily Wedgie, many now believe that a certain State Bank head and possibly Liberal Party sympathiser,
possibly a member of the VERY Liberal 'Adelaide Club', could have been the tool used to dislodge one of the most
popular and successful mainland Premiers that this country has ever had. Was John Bannon too good and had to
be got rid of by nefarious means? And how much of the eventual 'pay-off' landed in Victoria?

Although John Bannon was cleared of any wrong doing at a number of enquiries, he still took reponsibility for the
mistakes of others. Guilty men don't do that, so I'm keeping an open mind on all of those happenings.
Something just doesn't smell right. Don't believe everything you read in the press. Especially Murdoch press !

L.E.H. may be onto something in more ways than one mate.

This makes interesting reading too .....

John Bannon. LEH's #1 fan!!

( Yes LEH, it was John Bannon not John Olsen..... ;) )

Thank you all... I KNOW that!!!
The use of the State bank is in relation to the BLOW OUT IN COST - & the debt, I think same for Adelaide Oval - wait for the 'levy'!
Abstract, I know but you must admit, pretty funny!

You know, Von Einem STILL denies murdering those people too......but everyone knows he did it. I see a parallel, anyone else?

Mate, you know Port are run by the Devil himself and the ghosts of SANFL past, hand in hand with Jesus, will vanquish the evil Power / Magpies and lead us to the promised land. :-)

3 out of 4 of everyones SANFL mates on here ditched this league 20 years ago and years before Port Power even existed. If they hadn't, we wouldn't be in this weakened position.

Port haven't done themselves justice the last few years but then the Crows don't seem to have set the place on fire either with their business acumen.

I think we need a bit of balance here...

Port aren't the sole reason for our troubles, most of them are self made! (dumb arse financial decisions, bowing to the AFL for money thus setting a precedent, selling the Magpies out when we all knew it would ultimately hurt that club, hardly a clean sheet for our own clubs)

Even if you only plucked those figures out of the air to make your point 'cs',
they sadly ring true for accuracy in my experience. At all clubs too I'd imagine.
At least it's getting better than it was last year. 1,500 more members at Norwood.
I honestly hope all clubs have similar improvements. Strength in solidarity and all that.

With more and more un-AFL followers becoming jaded by that product and price, now
is definitely the time to be winning over hearts, minds and pockets by full on advertising
of our SANFL. In which we should be having an honest swipe at the other mob's deficiencies.
The 'Your Tribe Is Calling' promotion is ok, but not nearly enough.

I agree SABRE ,the SANFL should be aggressive with their advertising and may do if the licences go . Some directing contrast marketing would help.

' Tired of high priced that you can't afford to take the family " message.

The tribe things is weak IMO.

It's brilliant but the AFL will go bananas. They're already annoyed about the "real footy" promotional campaign, I think the "tribe" thing was a soft approach for that reason.

It's the sort of thing I've often hit 6PR with when Karl Langdon whines about people not being able to afford to take the family to the footy. Yes they can afford to go to the footy, just not often is it AFL games. Decent standard at the local level if you like the sport.

Ring 5AA and mention it. Or do it by stealth, ring them, start another topic and mention it in there.
It's all the SANFL's fault.

Interesting to hear on 5AA tonight, Cornes read out a letter from Les Stevens of the CDFC which effectively refuted a public perception that the SANFL clubs had been a drain on the local AFL clubs ... In the letter Mr Stevens made reference to "a high profile" reporter.

Graham finished the show by saying that Micaelangelo Rucci had phoned in and said that he is seeking a retraction on comments attributed to him, else The Advertiser will be taking legal action.

It's called a guilty conscience would want to be careful as I am certain those interviews he has in the paper are ficticious yet he uses a name. Cue Gary Metcalf.

Hope he sues , hope it gets ugly and hope he loses !

The letter is on page three of this thread and there is no mention of reporters at all. There is mention of reporting, but that could be anyone. I reckon guilty conscience is correct, HP.

Is attacking individuals and their character the way to achieve anything other than being ignored by mainstream media though? Debate on the facts that are relevant and you may get considered.

However, it does reference a 'senior' reporter. In the only newspaper in town that is implying the chief football writer of the Advertiser is responsible. Keep up the pressure as it appears that said reporter has an agenda and he will not stop until he has his way.
