WTF !

CROWS forward Taylor Walker is free to return to the Crows line-up - if coach Neil Craig wants him - after being cleared by the SANFL tribunal tonight.

But Walker had to change his plea from guilty to not guilty to avoid the wrath of the three-man tribunal as it considered his report for charging Port Adelaide Magpie Justin Hoskin at The Parade on Friday night.

SANFL tribunal chairman Paul Cuthbertson took issue with Walker pleading guilty without admitting fault in his actions in his late bump in the marking contest.

"You can't plead guilty and not admit to anything," Cuthbertson said during the 30-minute hearing of the evidence.

"You can't do that to get the benefit of a guilty plea."

After a three-minute adjournment, Walker changed his plea to guilty.

On leaving the tribunal at West Lakes, Walker explained his initial guilty plea.

Huh ? He pleaded guilty was told to plea not guilty, but changed his plea to guilty ? :?

I know I'll be accused of bias for this, but usually the sentiment around here is that we don't want to see any players get suspended for anything that isn't serious .. We pride ourselves on having a competition that still allows a reasonable amount of body contact yet people are complaining he didn't get games!

Free kick and 25/50 metre penalty is all I reckon it deserved and I'd hate to see any player from any club miss a game over something like that.

Glad he didn't get a week for this.

It wouldn't be good to see people missing games of footy for such minor incidents.

This is a disgace. It seems like the tribunal were looking for a way to get him off before the tribunal took place. What sort of situation is it when the tribunal asks the player to alter his guilty plea to not guilty so he can be be found not guilty.

You can understand Adam Cockshell and South supporters would be rather bemused by these proceedings.

Cockshell report was different to Walker as the West player had his head over the ball. In saying that I thought Cockshell was unlucky to get games as he was going for the ball not the player.

The SANFL tribunal proces is open and as fair as possible, with (I think) a sensible view as CP says, to not stopping a player playing unless they really deserve it.
